  1. I've not been on for awhile, and progress alittle slow on the builds.

The zisco rams horn turbo manifold has been fitted to the paseo. using a steel tdo4 flange off eBay £10, to modify and mate the standard paseo exhaust to the zisco turbo manifold. leaving a eBay special external waste gate I had permanently closed as a blank on the screamer waste gate pipe, sealing it closed.  This has given the engine even length exhaust runners as well as a increased volume in this area of the exhaust.

The difference I have noticed has been a very smooth engine response and better mid to top end power/torque. The next mod will be a full aftermarket 2inch exhaust system and high flow cat in the coming months after Christmas.

I'm very surprised, and happy with this little car, the power is fantastic (5e hp/torque curv 1:1, over the 4e is alot better) great speed, a perfect match for the 6speed box, easily staying with alot of modern little cars (fiat 500 abath, fiesta st, bmw minni) with power upwards of 130hp even the bigger heavier 200+hp newer cars. It revs really well a true jdm experience. Power to weight at its best. The car weights in at alittle under 900kg. The lower center of gravity also improving handling over the standard starlet.

The turbo I picked up off eBay for £60. It a China copy 2nd hand never used. Td05 20g it's huge.

I was a little worried about the lag on this monster of a turbo. As well as my setup for it. But I feel the setup of the power unit and drive train. Would actually complement the power delivery from the turbo. Also not needing things like limited slip diff or forged engine internals.

I'm going to run around 8psi.

Here are some videos I found of the boost delivery from a td05 20g on a 5efe engine.

This is 14+psi which is higher than my target which will affect how my turbo produces boost in the rpm range.

    Very respectable to be fair.

again a different boost pressure with very close results in relation to boost build/rpm. I suspect this is also on forged engine. Which will be slightly lower compression ratio.

This turbo should give some kick ass torque at a nice slow steady boost build, good for the engine, and power delivery. Also allowing me at such a low boost level to do a relatively small short rout intercooler setup. This thing is going to be insane for a road car something I'm going to treasure for a very long time.

  2. Ohhhh yehh what a 2021 season. What a great race. Congratulations to max redbull and HONDA they gave it everything. Mercedes very unlucky with the areo regs clearly aimed at slowing them down. But what a come back with 2 driver not giving up.

Checo has really been able to change my mind about him. Great drive. Where was bottas??!. Definitely time to go.

Motor sport at its rawest/best. I suppose it's good to have views for the drama but as a true Motorsport fan its has he says in the clip.

  3. Well well. What a season. What a drive.

I have been hoping Lewis would be cornered this season, this is when the champ drives the wheels off the thing. This is the fighter, unstoppable, incredible. The very best of British.

Proud day. I was in tears.

  4. His proformance and wheel to wheel racing has been very questionable, let's stop hyperinflating there abilities it puts to much pressure on them. These F1 machine's are like flying a fighter jet very very complex. There is no chance we will see a young F1 star any time soon.

  5. What a race the us gp has given us.

Congratulations to red bull that car has come a long long way since the start of the season.

Max not putting a wheel wrong all race zero mistakes, very impressive. A well deserved win.

I think the idea came from Ferrari. The red car has had this since Monza. .

  6. Quick update the itg air filter and larger throttle body do make a good increase in power above 4.5krpm but the standard air filter box with the k&n filter on the 4efte 50mm larger throttle make for better road driving (much smoother power delivery & low rpm torque delivery), helping throttle response which starts to become an issue using such a large throttle diameter.

At this size the throttling is starting to get really sensitive on the foot. It's starting to become very easy to stall the incoming inlet air delivery at lower and mid rpm levels, if you are to agresive with your foot (bogging out).  Personally I would not go any bigger with the throttle unless a twin plate is used. On this the gen1 4efe and 4efte power inlet manifold.

  7. To be honest I think your right. Going off all the head specs I've looked at most engineering specs. I have no reason to think otherwise. Fruitless exercise.

Lift and duration is how cams are measured my friend. This way I can also get a fix on the exhaust cams profile, which look to have no extra lift.

  8. Big fan of enzo's 6speed na. What a machine.

Yeh it's seems to have been touched upon by the elite lads. Missed by the masses.

Keep them topics coming. Great research.

I have been told the 98spec 4efte JDM ep91 run the lower lift gen2 4efe cams. Maybe certain items started to get discontinued and standardized at this point.

4efte and 5efe got slightly more lift then 4efe

Our German friend got it right. This is the same as I'm finding. Thw the measurements differ some what.

From what I'm reading here and on the aussi video there does seem to be different Sera cams (5ehfe) maybe different models or age related.

  10. Yep all very good questions. the year and demestic markets are a ? In my head.

I will do my best to get the info. I have a gen1 4efe ea101 engine here but not the gen3 corrola engine.

I will get a degree wheel and dti on the go very soon.

I will add Dyno results but it will more than likely be next year now. I have an ep82 MK2 that has the early 4efte engine, a ep91 cd and a paseo build on the go at present. I will update this topic with there Dyno graphs and setup.

If you or anybody could check part numbers relating to these different engines would also be great to see.

  11. I've had alot of messages about cams. Mainly the different uk 4efe inlet cam and 5efe, 4efte inlet cam (these two are the same). Also the jdm 5ehfe cams which have more lift on the inlet and outlet cam.

It seems that this was relatively unknown territory until I started to talk about it. This is something I have been told about threw a comprohnsive starlet tuning book I've been handed from the previous owner. I've measured the cams and found that this guild is correct there is a difference.

    Pictures and info to follow.

First up the ukdm ep91 gen2 inlet cam

Next the 4efte JDM ep82 and ep91. Also the same as the 5efe ukdm paseo.

    Next the Sera 5ehfe

Here is a popular video on cams. Notice how no measurement is given here. I will remove my 5efe paseo rocker cover and show the lift on the ukdm 4efe is different to the ukdm 5efe inlet cam. In the video the 4efe is said to be the same as the 5efe, now I don't know the age (year of engines compared) or if the different markets use different cams, all I can tell you is mine are different.

Another thing to note is the Sera 5ehfe cams measured here have 2mm more lift not 1mm as shown on the 4efte and 5efe cams?.

Again could the cams have been mixed up in the video.

The ukdm gen2 ep91 4efe inlet cam is very restrictive to higher rpm torque/power, you will notice a difference is 70 to 100 times if you use the 4efte/5efe inlet cam in the ukdm 4efe, because of the increase in higher rpm power/torque. It is best to use this cam with either the tubular corrola inlet or the gen1 4efe/4efte inlet. The standard ukdm ep91 inlet manifold is very restrictive.

It is also good to note that the 4efe inlet cam does promote low rpm gas velocity this could come in very useful using a big turbo it will help spool the turbo up sooner. The same affect happens using either the corrola tubular inlet (promotes low rpm gas velocity against the 4efte inlet designed for peak volumes) and the gen1 4efe/4efte inlet.

We did a 4efe on the td05 16g build using a 4efe inlet cam and the tubular inlet made for a amazing Street tune crazy torque with the turbo switching on at 3.7krpm. I might also add that this setup used a G6 c60 gearbox this gearbox will increase turbo lag with it reducing the load on the engine moving up the gears. A 5speed box will again increase load and reduce turbo lag (increase spool up time).

Also handy to improve time attack short courses.

Some very good information and what we are seeing also.

  12. I remember reading some where on a old (one of the first) auto to manual convertion build thread that there was a problem with 1 of the engine sensors not having a 5v feed from the ECU once the auto box is removed. I was certain it was the throttle body this might be the 42 code you have. Check that the throttle for a 5v supply also.
