  1. They overhang very slightly but they don't have much air in them. I'd say you might be able to squeeze 165's over them.
  2. Decided I'm probably going to get oil pressure + water temperature. But what's best, mechanical or electric? For the same price I can buy mechanical oil + water gauges I can get electric oil/water/volts. Are there pros/cons to having either mechanical or electrical? I'm guessing with mechanical there's a chance of getting a leak or something... is one more accurate than the other?
  3. The width of the tyres atm is 145 which looks about right if you look at the overall width of everything. I think you could get away with 155's on there quite easily, I'm just wondering if you could maybe get 165's on. Basically we've got a set of these wheels that came off my sisters car and I'm thinking of using them when I get another Starlet as it's only going to be a run around, but I really don't want to be going around on biscuit tin wheels so they need to be wider than 145.
  4. It doesn't say, it's got the PCD and the ET but nothing about the width.
  5. The standard size tyre that comes on these wheels are 145/80/13 which is pathetic really. What width could you get away with putting on them? I think 155's would be ok but would 165's be possible?

    Good Car Tunes

best music to listen to in a car = the engine at 8000rpm ;)

  8. Fuel cut is at 12.5 psi as far as I know. Which is just over 0.85 bar.
  9. Nice work. ;) I'm going to be doing a similar job on my CRX over the next couple of months. But that's on double wishbone suspension. It makes you appreciate how simple & easy Starlets are. ;)
  10. Resist temptation or Buy a non turbo ;)
  11. I'm considering getting a couple of gauges mounted like this, looks alright I think: http://www.turbovtec.com/images/crx/pc/IMG_0063.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2079/228004...c6e62d725_o.jpg I'm only going to get 2 or 3 if I do bother because I think it looks silly as fuck with a dashboard full of gauges everywhere. So I'm thinking oil pressure, and either water temperature or oil temperature. Or I could just be silly and get oil pressure/oil temp/water temp/volts but that seems a waste of money to me. I might not bother but I think it looks fairly good in the back of the dash like
  12. Would it not have been better to go for a 20v head?
  13. I sometimes take like 45 mins. ;) Only when I'm in a serious rush I take 10-15 but usually it's around half an hour. ;) Everyone else seems to be in and out in 10 mins. :S
  14. I'm not sure I'd trust it, does it have a thermostat?
  15. Cheers mate, I only plan to run it at about half anyway, I'm not after excessively loud volume or anything like that, aslong as the sound is nice and clear. I'm not big into car audio really, I didn't even have a CD player in my old Starlet, but I was forever getting asked to "put some music on" and then had to tell people that I don't have a CD player lol. But I thought seeing as it's got some half decent speakers in there now I might aswell make use of them.
  16. I think I'm just going to try it with the amp to the rear speakers, leave the sub for now, see what it's like if I decide I want a sub I'll get one as there's plenty of boot space in the CRX anyway. @ Blair I'm not sure, but on the other side of what you say I thought it was always good to have the speaker's max atleast as good as the amp that's powering them so they don't blow? Also will I get more of a "bassy" sound if I make up some enclosures for the rears? The JDM CRX actually comes with "bass tubes" in the back which are just plastic moulded enclosures to fit in the space, could prob
  17. I wasn't going to bother much with speakers but today I had a nice surprise and found that my car has some decent front and back speakers, and at some point had a sub/amp in the boot (wiring is still there). The speakers in there are: Front Fli Comp 6 components - tweeters are in the doors where the mirror adjust is on Starlets 255 watts 85 RMS 90 dB sensitivity rating 50Hz - 20k kHz Rear components but tweeters aren't there JBL GTO 270 watts 90 RMS 90 dB sensitivity rating 55Hz - 21k kHz Now I have a few questions, those speakers are good enough for me, but I've got an amp that I was gi
  18. CRX interiors are too nice to strip.
  19. I wouldn't call yourself a twat, after all driving is just like anything else, it's a learning curve, everyone makes mistakes, and obviously you have learnt from your mistake. The only problem with cars is that often you're going too fast to recover it and "just a mistake" turns into injury/no car. To me it's all about knowing the car. I'm not trying to sound patronising but if you'd have known the car's braking/cornering ability you would have known to slow down a bit earlier.
  20. Personally I think a TD06 is rediculous on a Starlet, far too big, and high power figures on Starlets are just "pub talk". But I can see where Rick is coming from, the time he spent on the car and hassle he had with it, if you read through this topic start to finish there's been a load of time and effort put into it and alot of hassle. And then someone goes and changes it.
  21. Well I'm sure the exhaust will drown it out anyway but when you're just taking it quiet and easy it's fucking annoying with things rattling. Everything rattled in the Starlet it drove me mad. But then I did have stiff suspension and 45 profile tyres.
