dont crash or anything. that might not help.

the FCD leans out the fuel curve over the ENTIRE rev/boost range, even if you were only idling for example, whereas the FCC only actually functions once you've hit 0.93bar (i.e level of fuel cut), at which point the ECU will only be fuelling to support 0.93bar, even if you're boosting well above that. However, at any level lower than 0.93bar, your fuelling should be fine. you'll need an safc at the least to sort your fuelling out. a cheaper old model (i.e 5 knob unit) would be ideal, would only need half hour on the dyno.

they werent that popular in japan for motorsport purposes due to their inherent flaws, much more popular were the civics and other hatchback alternatives as they were far more effective, most parts and people pioneering with starlets in japan are enthusiasts, hence the rarity and expense of any decent aftermarket parts. The N1 series for EP82's if i'm not mistaken was actually an N/A series, using stripped out earlier model ep82's and 4e-fe's and 5e-fe's.

Anyone else get a knocking noise with coilovers
ecksjay replied to Marc's topic in Lifestyle General
no, it wasn't an opinion marc. its fact. they are not highly regarded in japan by any stretch of the imagination, they are considered the bottom level as far as quality of suspension is concerned, they are just rather well promoted and advertised over this side of the water. they would get shat all over by a decent set of coilovers, even on track, although they do suffer even more on our shitty uk roads. check them first, it wont take long, just slip the dust sleeve up. -
they do produce stuff for the starlet. not much mind you, but some.

ecksjay replied to Marc's topic in Lifestyle General
teins are shit marc, so i'm not surprised they're knocking. behind JIC's they are probably the coilovers i'd trust the least. pop the dust covers up and see if they're leaking, if they're now knocking then it may be that they leaked a long while ago. -
vitara's are fucking shit. but ube.
-
loss.

that'll just be the boost controller needing tuning, i expect he can make it come in alot sooner if it was tweaked by a pro, and wasn't a piece of shit profec-b (blitz dsbc ftw).
-
best bet is to find the kits used from a breaking levin mate, i expect they popup in japan regularly, if you find any links feel free to send them across for us to purchase for you, thats if they arent available new.

yes, thats done the rounds. lots of power in a small shell, but again, not a drifter, the wheelbase is just too small. it'd drift, but not for long, before either gripping or spinning, you'd be permanently clutch kicking it and not getting very far, pretty useless for drifters unfortunately.
-
good luck finding one mate, everytime a rwd starlet pops up in any condition they go for several thousand pounds. also they're not used very much for drifting because of the short wheel base, i.e they just spin. something like an S13 would be a much better idea to learn in as they're actually decent at drifting, tunable and parts are in abundance. the v8 models you saw would have been used for stockrod racing, which is a grip sport. they'll grip to a point then let go, they aren't competant drifters compared to the alternatives.

fuck off noisyboyz xxxx

maet. ubes days all round. hugs. on the phone it sounded like it was trying to eat small children. mate, im pwned, track days am de pwned. yours would have been hopeless on there as there's alot of low speed corners, you'd be out of em like, digging craters fur snugs.
-
no, thats because you're a pussy. ;]
-
we do it fur tc.
-
it'll differ depending on the seats, so you'll need to work it out yourself mate.

the lids for a celica? lozlz @^;s mate, i just got an email asking for 112,000yen. almost 600quid. lolz.
-
nice lip, but jesus christ, get rid of that fucking turbo badge. its the most chavvy thing i've ever seen. HAI LOOKS AT MAI TURBOZ ^;
-
so it sits on the turbo-intercooler pipe yes? (thats where its supposed to go). if you email me a pic you have i can tell you whether its wrong or not ;) ecksjay@gmail.com
-
have you repaired the pipe, topped up the oil and started the motor? you may have got lucky mate, providing it didn't run empty.
-
either that or get someone to knock one up out of stainless but get it braced to fuck, as that one had no bracing. brace it at the downpipe if you can too.
-
it should be mounted to the pipe coming off of the intercooler pipe, thats what is pressurised and activates the BOV :/ What the chuff have you mounted it to? hahaha! If you blocked it off, you were technically running no dump valve, thus getting 'turbo stall' as air returned back into the turbo compressor. Show us a pic of how you've mounted it, because at present, its very wrong.

What should I do? Put new wheels on now or wait?
ecksjay replied to ste91's topic in Lifestyle General
leave em off for now mate, dont wanna risk em if you've spent your hard earned. you WILL have a prang in the first few months of driving, probably a few, thats life, whether or not you take chunks out of the wheels or ding the bodywork remains to be seen, but if you have the steelies on there then you'll be able to practice getting much closer, and if you do make a mistake then you'll know your limits and learn quicker, if you're going careful to begin with then you'll never actually learn it properly as you'll always be over cautious.
