brakes should be on your list too mate, no good going quick if you cant stop ;) celica 2pot's fit on relatively easy, as do levins. those parts seem about right, although you may find jap exhausts like hks etc are actually quite restrictive, a custom job will tend to free up more horses, although will be a little louder. ask anyone who's seen inside those exhausts, they'll confirm as such (they have to meet restrictions in japan for noise etc, hence the restrictive nature of them). Profec B II boost controllers are shit, they're cheap for a reason, definately look into something like a Blitz Dual-SBC or a HKS EVC. They're far superior to the shitty fucking profec, which have lots of problems, and struggle to hold even low boost. Rear ARB should definately be on your list, make such a difference to the car. With a TD04 you'll need a custom manifold and downpipe etc, so either find a kit or some sort of adaptor plate system. all depends whats available. i can sometimes source slag kits from japan, but it just depends whats available ;)

old mx5's are lush. look a bit gay, yes, but the handling and engine, absolutely fucking sublime. lovely motors, definately want one in the forseeable future, either boosted or cammed/tb'd. rx8's, are nice. not the most comfy (over long distances), but will rev forever. i was a bit dissapointed as they arent all that quick (although i had just hopped out of a 400bhp evo and a 650bhp drag prepped skyline) but i did drive it over 300miles and had a good crack in it. look the tits (electric blue) and rev forever as i said (doesn't actually hit a limiter, just beeps at you and keeps on revving ), but not all that powerful really. handling is alright, but when you take long sweeping bends at about 120mph they tend to loose traction, and try to slide towards hedges etc never driven a NEW mx5, so cant comment on those.
