  1. the bov will only go when you release the throttle, not as it changes gear. thats it. if you want it because your thinking of converting it to manual, i'd just buy a manual to start with! if your not fussy with the auto box then there are some right minters out there for bugger all money as everyone wants a manual! not sure on the auto being quicker though. i thought it was about the same to be honest.
  2. yeah, it sounds like a plan buddy. where you wanna go though? most places will be packed out on a saturday!
  3. somethings defo wrong then. im gonna ask around and see how to get it checked.
  4. me and geo spoke about this for ages phil, this is what we came up with. the jdm 4efe starlets came with the jdm inlet manifold, yellow injectors (compaired to our green ones), and this ecu which has a rpm limit of (we believe) around 7000rpm. anyone with the jdm mani will agree that sometimes the 6k rev limit isnt enough with the mani fitted. the jdm 4efe's run around 90-99bhp but thats on 105 ron fuel, some also use a distributorless ignition system, so that would be the bit that would need to be modified, you could find one of these ignition systems and try it, but theres no guarantee it
  5. i had a universal tg backbox on my old n/a. and it was awesome. i did all the fabrication myself though, so i knew i'd done a good job.
  6. another option is a jdm spec ecu. like this one i have still got. should have a higher rev limit and use yellow injectors the wiring is slightly different though, so you'd need a bit of wiring doing.
  7. hmmm, any chance you can 'locate' me one too? can you order one from toyota?
  8. nah, i meant the earth mate! lol you did it how i was trying to explain anywho! ;)
  9. quad throttle bodies can be done... threepot proved that with his 5e seo, and he did it on a standard ecu. i had this same idea around the time its really not a big mission either, a set of gsxr 750 t/b's mated to the bottom of a old n/a mani and youre away. you need to sort out various sensors, and have a way of adjusting the fuel mixture. speak to jim i think he knows him.
  10. hmm, you see im struggling to get 200 outa mine at the mo and thats with the standard exhaust back on it.
  11. just look at some of their cars in the pictures mate. most that i looked into looked like absolute dogs. hence why they've had that black one with a full rollcage sitting there for nearly 6 months! i heard most of them were mostly thrashed to death. if you are thinking about a glanza i'd recommend contacting www.japanmotors.biz thats where me and sicaln got our 98 glanzas from, he's a pretty nice bloke, and the cars he has seem generally well looked after.
  12. blimey! well sicaln has quoted getting about 300 out of his v... and his is standard engine wise like mine!
  13. i feel your pain mate... i tried everything to change it without removing anything... no such luck though. ended up taking me nearly 2 1/2 - 3 hours total.
  14. looks good mate, where are you getting the apexi exhaust from? and how much is it costing?
  15. i used the rear seat belt buckle bolts to anchor mine in. looking great mate.
  16. anyone have any idea how you go about testing a lamda sensor to see if its working properly? as i only seem to be getting about 200 miles to a full tank and thats driving like a granny. ;) or is it likely to be something else?
  17. fair play mate. not really my cup of tea, but you can see a load of work has been put into it!
  18. thinking about it, i wouldnt hit it too hard... you dont want shards of plastic falling into your intake before the turbo!
  19. ive seen that done before joz. im not conviced its good for bottom end power, altho im sure it works well at higher rpm's.
  20. yeah totally. let me know if she ever wants to sell those rims!
  21. restricted how? speed or power? have you de restricted 1st & 2nd gear?
