Wepr Godzilla or racetech gt30
Ricky@Race-Tech replied to yaristurbo's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
Hello, My site is the same and the pictures on their somewhat out of date for that kit. I've never actually seen one of your stainless manifolds to be honest. The power sounds very good for the RPM's. over 300lbs ft torque! Out of interest was that on a 4e or 5e? Tell me about it, we'r spending £1000's on dyno extraction and ventilation and we don't even got high temps here! Your 100% right about the supporting mod's very few cars are built as you would want to with one of these kits, I do think however the person who asked in this thread had a nice spec engine. How did the head crack? So -

As we constantly strive to improve our products I'd be interested to see your opinion of why Wepr products are that little bit "better". This seems to be their flagship turbo kit. http://www.wepracing...series-manifold Its difficult to see the actual material/weld quality as they paint their manifolds. (not sure why?) Would this improve ours? They also appear to use a much shorter collector than us, (not good for flow) The flanges look to be water/laser cut from flat plate, ours are CNC machined and pocketed out at the back to ensure a perfect leak free seal. (this is just a td04 manifold) -
There's more to injectors than just size. Technically 460s would be enough. I'd go for something with a little head room though. Regards Ricky

We have a bit of a supply issue on the ACT clutches to be honest. We should have them back in stock in the next week or so, but usually we sell them all before the actually arrive. These lasted 2 weeks! http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b16/RickyLee53/DSC_0544-1.jpg Comp clutch are good, and we don't have the supply issue. We have those in stock all the time. Price is sometimes a little less as well. Regards Ricky

Running an oil that is too thin could cause the engine to smoke. I'd recommend something a little heavier now, given the engines are pretty old and starting to wear a little. Kep in mind it is winter, but i'd say use a 10w 50 this should give you plenty of "headroom" for when the temps are high and still be reasonable at cold starts etc. Always try to run a Fully Synthetic ester based oil.

We have Ct9 rebuild kits but remember its important to get them balanced, without this its pointless rebuilding. We've never seen a turbo within 5 x the spec they should be balanced to. We also port the wastegate housings etc and enlarged pennies should you require.

Best place to get a new ct9 turbo
Ricky@Race-Tech replied to HBlades's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
We do a rebuild service including all new parts of your existing unit, or reconditioned turbo's. All turbo's are balanced to better than factor spec's we can also upgrade parts. Contact me for pricing. -
Great vid, do a video of the car coming on boost watching the boost controller. It will make more power than a td04 car everywhere in the RPM range, including spool up Needs one of our new intakes on it

I was a diehard GT fan but now i'm converted to Forza, every time i turn the playstation on theres another update that should have been on the original game and it takes an hour to load, by which time you are doing something else so i haven't been on GT5 for ages. It'll probably be worth playing soon, then Forza 6 will be out!

We do them tom. Send me a PM.

Stock injectors are fine on a td04. Stock injectors are fine on a td04.

Sock's '2ZZ-GE Turbo' Glanza V

If any tuner will tell you a piggyback, is better than a standalone ECU, please find a new one. -
Sock's '2ZZ-GE Turbo' Glanza V
Ricky@Race-Tech replied to Socks's topic in EP91 Glanza Progress Blogs
Matt doesn't want everything maxed right out of the box. This turbo will breeze 300hp with very little added lag, I'm hoping spool will still be better than a td04, and i've no reason to believe it won't be. 330+hp will be close to the stock cam's limit, but the powerband should be very nice. Turbo design plays a more important role than turbo size. -

No what I said was. It depends on MANY things. You'd certainly be better on a 3" system, but a 2.5 might work. We've actually ran over 350hp on a 2.5" system, but at the same boost level picked up 20% power gain 70hp! Just by swapping the exhaust. If you try and run a 500hp turbo on a 2.5" exhaust, it'll hold you back to a power level. For arguments sake 350hp, if you replaced this you'd then gain huge amounts. Gas speed is happy to approx mach 0.4. After this you have a massive restriction. Heres a civic exhaust we modelled showing the flow data and restriction points. You will always -

Just by swapping the exhaust. Of course things like nitrous, race fuel, aggressive mapping, turbo efficiency, cam timing etc etc can mean you get more than 300hp while staying 2.5". A screamer pipe obviously helps as well. Its like aerodynamics, you can make a double decker bus do 200mph, you just need a LOT more power than a car. -
Is it me or it the game "slower" on the new update. I couldn't beat a 58.4 Must have been me, done a 57.7 but no 57.6s, i've only got 249hp though Why are yours 253?) and it won't let me fit one of my turbo kits, nitrous or map it for some more power so I'm going to bed.

Absolutely Tim, I didn't mean to come across that way sorry if I did. I like the discussion, it lets people know an insite, which will hopefully help them. Also we want to here about failures so we can push the boundries further and hopefully improve on the ways we do things. We held a record of 0 failures for a couple of years. A few pictures (sorry for quality) of a new design. Regards Ricky

F1 manifolds often crack, so do touring cars, they just don't cry about it. I very much doubt exhaust gas pressure is a problem with cracking. Even at 900 degree's you'd need 10 x the pressure to even get close. However all your other points are correct. Lastly slip joints IMO aren't the way to go, the idea is as the material warms they grip to seal, when the manifold is extremely hot it'd take a lot of pressure to move, they'r ok when there cooler, good for complete heat cycles not for daily drivers where the EGT's will get higher (say on the motorway) then cool a little when at idle at the

No, I'd as to see it, as i've no idea who made it and what made it fail. Not all weld failures are a case of bad workmanship, it depends where they are. Most manifolds will fail at the sides of welds. This is normal. Also to note, a car running rich can have higher EGT's than a car that is leaner.
-
They have been talked about above, obviously any problems are going to be quickly highlighted on an open forum. I must point out on the manifolds the cracks are in the material not the welds. Which is basically because the EGT's are too high. As said previously, our manifolds are now 50% stronger, but if people continue to run lean states ANY manifold will crack. Sadly people have td04's on starlets on stock ECU's far too often. Our downpipes are all welded with 100% penetration. There was a small batch of downpipes and screamers which weren't due to a machine setting. All our manifolds a

If it was a new manifold, why wouldn't they get in touch and return it? I know I would. Also we plan to stock every product we make by Christmas. We have never been able to make manifolds as quick as we can sell them. But hopefully we can turn this around so there are no waiting times on any of our products.
-
I don't think we have had 4 td04 manifolds crack. If they did, why didn't they return them for a free repair. Our manifolds are made from the best materials (for the money and whats been talked about in here) and using the best tools/techniques. We have never had a manifold fail on a car that has been mapped from the outset. We had 1 manifold that was really bad. Which had been driven unmapped at 0.5 bar for some time. The EGT's must have been through the roof (the steel is only good to a certain temperature and once the damage is done its done) However, even with this said, we will make a

I'm placing my money on head gasket. Both the block and head wanted skimming. Saying that a coolant change might have helped if its anything like last time. It looks like you've stored the block at the bottom of the ocean. Also the crank was in pretty bad shape. Stock engines are reliable if in good shape. As somebody else said, forged doesn't guarantee you to be reliable, they have to be built with great care and good tolerances. Least he's not the biggest.... Look at me, i've posted twice on facebook now on here!

New look Race-Tech 350hp Vband kit
Ricky@Race-Tech replied to Ricky@Race-Tech's topic in Photography Gallery
This kit has a GT28 variant with Tial housing. However the kit is open to a few turbo's depending on the power level we'r going for.
