Head gasket gone, urgent advice needed
Arnold replied to Arnold's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Well, it would only go on and off if I repaired it now, then went forged later on but I've been reading about arp bolts stretching too so I've just gone and bought an oem head gasket and oem bolts / washers for £100 delivered, so ill be getting those fitted and will replace the lot for forged bits and arp bolts, Athena gasket etc later on. I don't really have the cash right now to go forged anyway. Yeah I could but both companies are up north. TD said they would deliver a fully built engine but won't give it a warranty if they don't fit it, so I'd rather buy the stuff and get it done by my -
Head gasket gone, urgent advice needed
Arnold replied to Arnold's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Thanks mate, not sure what I'm happy with as going down this route is all new to me, but ill speak to my tuner and see what he recommends. Your right, it is a bit extreme but I've been quoted around £500 to have the HG replaced. Not sure if that is steep or not, but it made me think if I go forged now, then it saves having the head skimmed twice, replacing the gasket twice and two lots of labour rates as well. How much should a head gasket cost to replace? I read that too, which is why I wondered if the oem one would do. I think I'm right in saying the gaskets can't be re-used so I do -
The back end on mine came out in icy conditions in the winter when also doing about 15 mph round a tight roundabout. I think the front with more weight gripped and the back just went. I put a post up on TGTT about it and was told to check tyre pressures, and that the coilovers weren't set too firm. Hope you get it sorted soon

Hi all My radiator expansion tank was over flowing and sprayed water all over the engine bay, and i'm told this is signs the head gasket has gone or going. I've also read on here that it could be the head bolts have stretched, either way I need to sort this out ASAP, as i've got three shows to attend in the next month. Basically, if there's enough time, I'm now thinking this is an idea time to go forged rather than repairing it now and stripping it down again later on. I know the ARP head bolts are a must, but i'm reading mixed opinions about the Athena head gasket Vs Standard, and i'm

Even if it is genuine, some of the early EMU's (Revision D or earlier) had problems which would cause major engine damage. You should only buy the EMU with a revision E board. That above image is a revision B of an EMU which you can see stamped at the bottom right corner of the board. If you only have an EMB, then ignore this -

I hope you get it sorted soon. I never know what i'm looking at when it comes to the photos of knackered pistons etc. That's like Kwik fit telling me they couldn't re-balance my wheels to stop vibration at 80mph because that's above the speed limit, idiots. If a car is capable of doing 100+ then it should be mapped to do it safely. There are quite a few reasons why this could have happened, fuel pump not delivering, blockages in the fuel line, fuel filter, fuse blown on the injectors, etc. -
I know a few people that use MX5. Good track day cars too

Tiger seal advice please - how to stick a mesh grill?

When my mesh was fitted, masking tape was used to hold the mesh in place and tiger seal applied to hold it on. Keep the tape on for 24 hours to allow the seal to dry properly -
Slower than they already are ;) Message back when you can mate

I'm with Sky, all mods in around £600 fully comp. They even called a week after sending the documents back to see if my certificate had come through, which was unexpected (but no the certificate hadn't and still hasn't come!)

Arnolds 99V Glanza build - New WEPR TD04 Kit :D
Arnold replied to Arnold's topic in EP91 Glanza Progress Blogs
My standard bumper, no, but yes for my after market one by a couple of inches or so. I've spent way too much having this bumper fitted, it would be mad to go back now. I guess it's like Marmite as i've had others saying they like it -
Had a Blitz Nur Spec from them and arrived pretty quick, and best price on the net as well.

Not saying TD are shit or anything as I know they aren't but seriously, you wouldn't regret going to Fusion and saving a bomb in fuel. I can't recommend him enough! He's one of the most knowledgeable guys I've ever met.

I just wanted something different and open up the front for the FMIC but I appreciate your feedback -
You do however if it is part of the contract you signed up for. After 12 months or the agreed term, then you can drop whatever you want. From experience with Sky TV, it's best to cancel the whole lot then go back a few months later. Got my monthly bill down from £58 to just £18!

Anything to improve updates is a bonus. Nothing worse than getting a new game like GT5 or COD, only to find the system needs updates then the game needs updates too! by the time they're done, the excitement has gone and you can't be arsed.
