I had an annoying hesitation problem with the Glanza and finally sorted it today, I had a feeling the vacuum pipe to the MAP sensor had too many feeds going from it (boost gauge, EMB and AVC-R) and I was right. So when the engine is out I will get some new vacuum nipples threaded in the back of the manifold. I also need a new AVC-R as the buttons on mine are quite sticky and are beginning to annoy me. So much to do, such little time.

If it's mild steel, which is most probably is, then yes rust is normal. That's one reason why many people tend to heat wrap them.

The 5EFHE has thicker rods and a higher lift exhaust cam compared to a 5E-FE. Everything else is the same, of course the rods don't matter as I'm forging it anyway.

As above, check the thickness of the pads and see if the discs are warped. In answer to your question, yes green stuff pads will be good with OEM discs

Shaun, the engine stands are cheap and well worth the money so make sure you invest in one, makes engine building so much easier as you'll need to rotate it around etc. Taggy that's a perfect location to build it ;)
