  1. the only reason i would lower my car is so that the arches looked full, and they would be with those wheels although i would probaly end up changing the ride height at some point lol
  2. hi all just a few niggles on the ep70 i can't get an iso adapter to make an aftermarket sterio work in my car bought the starlet adapter and it does not fit my '85 ep70. also anyone know much in the way of fitting a central locking kit, you can buy DIY remote locking kits with central locking motors of ebay for about £30 but i would probably end up killing my cars elecsystem by trying to fit it and my dad would be non the wiser!!! not got the money to do either right now. will end up wanting both done in the future thanks james
  3. i would soo fit those wheels on my ep70, then i would not have to lower it love em, if you decide to get rid over the next couple of months for about the hundred to ahundred and fifty quid area, i would well consider them. keep the tyres good for me i should have a job by then
  4. blue rocker cover and other removable and paintable parts other parts polished and some red ignition leads
  5. looks well nice buddy do you think that it would look cheap and tacky if i carbon vinyled some bits inside my bog standard 1.0 ep70
  6. i suppose i was very vague, but really how can i work out what i want when i don't have a clue of what is avalible!!!! ebay does not have much stuff and most modification shops say do one of those hissing sound when i say starlet, then when i tell them what shape, age and model it is they laugh in my face then say good luck to ya!!!
  7. rattle cans are underestimated i my opinion, anyone can achive the colour wheels thay want with any paint to the highest of standards, as long as it is not watercolour paint being poured on by a cack handed 2 year old if you are cautious with a rattle can you can achive a showroom gloss, just use a good nozzle, and a high quality laquer. if you think it is going to look like crap when you attempt it, you will not put any effort in and then it will look worse than crap!!!! if you are worried about reacting use a few coats of primer white is best for light colours, the only primer i will buy so
  8. sound like what i did to mine, i used an engine bay degreaser from homebase it was £5.99 and probably the best 6 quid i have spent on my car, it says on the side of the can what you can't spray, and if you think anything else should not be sprayed cover it then go nuts, just make sure to remove the battery when you do it!!!!!! and for aplication a household paintbrush is perfect but something cheap about a1inch or even half inch is great if you have the patience before cleaning after degreaser after detailing (leads cleaned with white spirit, head and airbox sprayed) hope this h
  9. hi all and god!!! anyone else had trouble when ringing there local toyota branch???? just rang up as recommended for finding some accesories as ebay don't do much for the ep70 other than springs and standard brake discs. the awful conversation went like this all i got was 'what part do you want?' 'i am wondering what accesories you can still source for an starlet made in 1985' 'telll me exactly what you want and then i just search for it and give you a price' (fair enough). so i said 'some finnishing touches like a spoiler different lenses for lights you know what i mean' 'gimme ye reg
  10. my mums grande punto is bright red and i do all the polishing, i used to use autoglym srp almost everyother month when it was new because mum hated the idea of it fading, waxes then went down to the recommended 3 monthly. I then got recommended meguires gold class liquid polish (leaves residue all over the fiats paintwork but suits my starlet down to the ground ) my mums car is going to turn 2 years old next week and still shines like the day it left the showroom, and i can tell it is the wax as we took the car for its service the other week and pulled it inbetween a 2010 just deliverd punt
  11. if it looks good post some pics up and pm me because it soinds interesting with me being an ep70 owner
  12. thanks bud also you would be shocked what you can wet under the bay, its only the starter solenoid (sommit like and to do with starter) and one other bit, these are stated on the side of the can, and as to hosing off, you could use a slow trickle carefully from a watering can or a damp cloth to wipe away residue. just make sure you know whats what, take off the battery and if you want to be on the safe side put a tesvo bag around big clumps of electrics and then you can clean dead close with no risk
  13. i was thinking if a car with a big engine a thougt ferrari thats why i wrote that , i degreased my bay and thdifference is phenominal, check out some pics it was well worth my 1.5 hours of greasy hands brushing on degreaser. before degrease after degrease engine after cleaning leads and spraying rocker cover
  14. i think your car is great, do as above, but also for things such as shows and meets a nice engine bay is impresive and a must, paint your rocker cover funky, degrease the rest of the bay (£5 of degreaser a paintbrush 1 hour and a hose off), and some other cheap trick parts that make it look like a ferrari (oil catch can, big air filter, coloured hoses and red ht leads set off an engine bay with a contrasting header/rocker cover) these are all things i would do hopefully i have not stated the obvious or spent too much money
  15. if i do sell it any time soon i will be slapping myself with a wet fish in a couple of years anyway
  16. not overly tried ringing op the companies as i have been looking at quotes for other cars the best 2 cars that i have found so far are fiat 126 bis - £1300 mk1 fiesta popular - £1500 i really am considering getting rid of my car when i see things like that, if i can pull down the insurace cast of the starlet how cheap could i get one of these cars, the problem then comes when i look at my starlet and i skip a heartbeat!!!
  17. hi all a non photographic update here after cleaning my ignition leads turns out they are champion 8mm high performance leads this made me check the history as i bought it as a one old lady owner car and thought 'what would she want with things like high performance leads etc' but apparently she did i still can't beleive that its had only one owner before me as above and all i have done it strip it and clean it as well as some minor body work tidy ups. i have a concern that with the car being a group 6 car for insurance i will not afford to insure her, this means that there is a possibilit
  18. that car sounds like its enjoying the company of a pretty lady i'm drueling
  19. my mum used to have one of those!!!!
  20. nice one mate hopefully mine goes like yours has, got to wait 10 months till i'm old enough though well done
  21. thanks for all the help guys have used confused.com and 47 insurers were offering insurance from £2,700 al the way to the scary side of £19,000!!!!! i will be looking into insurance very seriously over the next few weeks to see if i can't haggle something down and see whats possible. if i do decide to seel the car i will not really have a set price, i will have a number in my head and if your offer is close enough i will go for it thanks again james
  22. hi guys as you all may know i am pretty much finnished with my ep70 build but can't drive for about 10 months. despite that headache i have two even bigger ones, first of all, if i do decide to keep her she will be sitting for 10 months outside down the side of my house being walked on by my cat, having bicycles pulled past it and many other possible sources of scratches and dents. also if i do decide to keep the car i then have to contemplate insuring a 1.0 12valve which currently has no mods (sounds cheap) but unfortunatly; due to the age, collectablity, modability, rarity and so on it has
  23. is also on ebay, be wary with that one. was on ebay 2 months ago was in yellow and gorgeous then came back on recently with a differnet person in yellow bodywork is slightly diffent (probably crashed)
  24. nice looking car, only a couple of touch ups needed to make it mint, wheels arent the best but fill the arches nicely that could be made a very very sexy car in a matter of days, good luck with her
  25. i use a soft rubber squeege working from the roof down (£1 in a bargain bucket) then i use synthetic shammy the one from poundland in a plastic box is mint (have got 2 spares they are that good) then a microfibre wash sponge (microfibre one side fabric mesh the other) on the micro fibre side to buff to a high shine, if there are any left over marks the fabric mesh sidde will loosen it and the spoonge showing through will remove it (£5 tesco) after all that all doors are opened on goes the microfibre wash mitten (also from poundland) to wipe excess from boot, door and bonnet
