  1. To be fair if your spending under a grand mate you want it as gay as possible. That way its sooooo uncool it is cool. If you try and get somthing cool for under a grand you just end up with a shite example of a decent car. Go gay or go home lol.

  7. Gt86 is gorgeous i drove 1 when i was buying a new car. Too slow though. You dont get enough bang for your buck buy something else. Fuck a corsa vxr thats what i got rid of lol. I had it for 2 years and when i traded it in it needed a clutch a head gasket. I done about 3 rear wheel bearings in 2 years its the most unreliable shitty car ever all in 50k miles. They are pretty fast in a straight line tho and do look good but drink fuel. The new astra vxr is pricey about the same as a gt86 and i drove 1 aswell they are incredible probably 1 of the best hot hatches ever. Insanely fast handles incredibly unlike the old 1 jus absolute sex. Downsides being 20mpg 20inch wheels and 4k brembo front brakes. Personally in your shoes id go for a new shape subaru, a nissan 350/370z or obviously a bmw 330i or even better d. That way it has looks reliability speed fuel economy and cheap tax. Its a no brainer. I eneded up buying an e92 320d and fucking love it. Not the fastest but 180bhp not far off the gt86. Does 55 mpg and 100 a year road tax. For me it was in a different league.

  9. How much have you been quoted and what kind of respray? I was gna come but involved a days work to my car to make it presentable and i just didnt have the heart lol.
  10. Id very much doubt a 2001 polo gti has tappets it will have cams and cam followers if they needed shimmed, re ground or replaced id imagine it would do it constantly.

  13. Its not the tappets. Its because the top end is dry when you start then soon as the pump gets oil up there it stops thats why it only lasts 2 secs after start up.

  18. Good Luck sealing it again. I've heard starlets are a fucking nightmare because the sumps are paper thin and just warp when you tighten them.
  19. Strange normally when stem seals go you get a puff on start up due to the oil on top of the head leaking past the seals when the engine is off and sitting and gravity takes its toll I dont doubt you though just unusual. Always good to know though.
  20. Nah if youre sure there is no other bolts then just scrape away. Sumps are pretty basic bits of metal punched out in a press theres nothing to damage other than the lip itself. So long as you dont stick it in too far youll be fine.
  21. Use a sharp thin blade screwdriver or wallpaper scraper and go round the edges its most likely being held on by silicon.

  23. Mines is currently meshed as my airfilter did not fit. It does the job but a filter is always better. Particles small enough to fit through the mesh can get it and do damage as well as water. The benefits being it is less restrictive than an airfilter.
  24. No because there is only so thick that you can justify making them. Too thick and you would get hardly any movement in the suspension and it would just become a negative like the guy says in the vid. Thats why they dont make them with 4 holes for every car. My only point originally was that you were quick to tell people " Although the difference in mm with roll bars is not the thickness " which is a completely false statement. So if you are not sure on somthing why post complete trash? You are only educating people who dont know any better wrongly. Then they go telling people that and they tell others that. Its the beginning of misinformation.
