Grant showed me the work he's been doing, well happy with the rear arch repairs so far, some good work going on there! I bet he's looking forward to taking it out for some "testing" when its ready lol.

Bloody hell been a while since i updated this, Car was being sold for a while, but circumstances changed and now no longer need to sell it . So over the winter I have decided to give it a bit of a make over. Car is now in Turbo Grants possesion and hes doing a load of work on it during the winter months. Giving the car a bit of a tidy up so hes been working through a list of stuff for me, namely Repairing the rusty rear wheel arches Putting new fuel lines and filter in. New MOT Repairing a brake line leak, bleeding brakes Repairing oil leak from the sump Fitting a catch can Some electrical work to hook up EML light to old dash cluster Fitting a rear spoiler Powder coating wheels and wind screen wipers (yes finally getting rid of those rusty wipers!) Powder coating spoiler Removal of the rear wiper Tidy up the bay a bit and with any luck should be good to go!

Bloody hell if i lived near you i would let you keep in my garage ha ha!

is your oil cap a push fit?, it should be screw on so its impossible for it to come off!

That turbo is so big you should get boost some time next week on a starlet 4e engine, i wouldn't even bother fitting it!

I ran my forged 5e in on a stock 4e ECU, standard map is really rich anyway, will be fine to run in, just dont go booting it too much, short bursts of boost to run in will be fine, maybe dont go above 0.5bar

Ah its not in there because i used toyota orignal bolts so used the toyota specs which are Main Bearing Cap Bolt (2) ........................ 42 (57) I would assume the specs for tightening these will be identicle to the toyota specs, if they are different they would be supplied as a spec sheet with the bolts, if there are none go with toyota specs above. but like i said seems alot of hasstle to swap them, i cant see any benefit using ARP on the cap bolts aside from changing them if you had it in bits building it already

Stick to the 4e intake i would, its got all the vacume points you need.

Hey, i will have a dig around for you now, although to be honest i wouldnt worry about the main caps not being swapped to ARP bolts, the mains are not as critical as the head bolts and make no difference to the build.

I would steer clear of ebay with companies selling "refurbed engines" you get allot of dodgy foreign companies claiming they have overhauled it when in fact they just spray the outside of the engine to make it look new, highly dodgy!! I have bought a few from GTBitz, bit expensive but you get the whole engine, ancilleries, turbo the lot and you can see its all standard and not been messed around with. Stick to the forums, UKSO, TGTT, Also ALWAYS if possible see the engine running in the car, go for a spin in it, make sure its not blowing exhaust gasses out of the top breather when you rev it (sign of broken ringlands), check for oil leaks, really common to leak on the crank seals so look on the gearbox side and the crank pulley side, check for mayo under the oil cap (HG failure) and if you have one take a compression tester with you, you want 150psi from each cylinder or more and 4 pistons to be within 10% of each other. Oh and athough obvious dont buy anything with knocking bottom end bearings! Can be an expensive repair.

I have taken one apart previously, they are delicate as hell inside and don't go back together well from experience.Tried brake cleaner in it but to no avail.

My idle control valve is doing my head in, its making this really anoying "bipping" sound, i noticed when i unplug the valve it stops. I also noticed it seems to make no difference to the idle of my car, which leads me to ask if i actually need it?

Need a replacement PCV and ICV valve for the boxy Anyone got a spares knocking around?
