I need to replace my nuts on the manifold which hooks up my td04 turbo and also the decat pipe. Thinking about it i think all the manifold exhaust etc ones are the same size Anyone know what size they are or where i can get some?

I couldn't understand how a full exhuast system for the car was £320 but the fmic was £560! I rang him back because i thought i might have got him confused and he meant £560 for both, but no -
I have tried both the TD04 and the TD04L, the difference is marginal at best, like already said its got a very slightly larger compressor, and is the recommended turbo upgrade for the starlet, so try and get the TD04L if you can

ah fuckin basdards, looks like they have had a door and a wing off it too!!

Well i have still got the FMIC kit from my ep82 which was custom made, although the ep70 is a bit of a different shape, to tell you the truth I couldnt be arsed to mess around getting it to fit and wanted a nice new one, but as much as i want one I aint paying that price! Oh well, looks like i will have to get the hacksaw out and pipe some ingenious routing of pipes and silicone! -
As most of you know i am getting my exhaust made up next friday (25th nov) at prospeed, which is costing me a nice £340. I had heard he could also make up the intercooler pipework for me but had a bit of a shock when he quoted me an additional £560 for it. £560 for an FMIC, bloody hell i thought, think i will give that a miss, i was expecting no more than £250, but it was more than double that!! Does anyone know anyone else who can make me one but at a sensible price? (in wales)

Does anyone know what size the fitting is from the main feed on the fuel pump on the tank, it a screw on connector.
-
jesus that is amazing!

Thanks Idress and Sparky, I have always wanted a sleeper and when the opportunity came up to make one with an old starlet I jumped at it. Suffice to say I am well happy i did it, not forgetting my mate Leon Dendle who helped out with plenty, especially the electrical diagrams. I'll get some vids up week after next once the exhuast is on I wouldn't like to think how many hours its taken though, lots!
-
Ha ha ok i will post up a video, its only in my yard though as its not taxed at the moment oh and its only got the decat pipe on as an exhuast lol. I'll get the mrs to record some video for you lot.

Cheers guys should be on the road week after next, its been a mad two and half months Bled the brakes today, still spongy though, gonna have to do them again. For some reason when bleeding the drums at the back hardly any brake fluid was being pumped through the lines, which is odd, so need to check that. I also put all the dash back in too and my aluminium fuel filler cap arrived but its the wrong feckin size. Cant do too much now i am just waiting for the 25th to come up to go get my exhaust fitted. Wahoo, yes defo be up for a meet when its done.

Yay bled the clutch today and drove the car around my yard, it works! need to buy some tax and bleed the brakes next

Thats some crazy ass shit! Looks fun though

Sorry to ask so many questions! What are the specefic tolerances?I know the pistons you can go up to 74.5mm, obviously my local machine shop is going to want to know what specefic tollerances it should be within.
-
Which tolerances in particular would i need to get checked, obviously the bores need to be completly round and the correct size for the pistons. what else?
-
Yep i just bought a 5litre bottle of carplan 2 year stuff for £8
-
This is part of what i mean and an area i am unfamilure with, you mention machining, and more so with forged, which parts would need to be machined and why?
-
Im with StuDoc on this one, Coolant is Coolant, it doesnt matter which one you stick in it. Toyota say buy their brand because it makes them money, its simple as that. Using an aftermarket brand will no more damage your engine than using toyotas stuff. They all use the same Ethylene glycol which is the active ingredient in varying strengths, it stops your engine from freezing in the winter and slightly raises the boil temp. Same as oil, brake fluid, any liquids, Toyota will recommend you only use their brand stuff.
-
So have you made your own engine, and if so how did it work out for you, was it the first time you had done it and did it give you any problems after doing it, how did you learn how to do it? I am thinking about building my own forged 5e, I know everything else about my starlet inside out but the only thing i haven't done is rebuild an engine. I have had one apart from when the head gasket went and also when the bottom end went on a different one, so know my way around it. I just need to be able to have confidence to do it without fucking it up (as its potentially allot of money down the pan
