MK1 GT Snow Edition - Full respray finally
aaddzz123 replied to aaddzz123's topic in EP80/EP82 Progress Blogs
Yep lmao! My neighbor was hanging out the window yesterday to ask what the hell I was doing. She said her kids thought that I'd painted it and the rain washed it off. And a random guy walking down the street asked what I'd done not to mention the looks I get driving it... I hope people recognise it as "that's the car that used to look like a shed" when it's all minty fresh and then maybe people won't think I'm such an idiot haha. -

I went full retard. Should never go full retard. Fixing bodywork always looks worse before it looks better -

Haha you guys . I just used a satin black wizz tin. Doesn't matter what you use as a guide really providing that it's a contrasting colour so that you can see where you've been . I've done half the car now but I'm going to go back and do some of it again as I can still see some dents in artificial light. I guess the block I used isn't big enough. Using a ft long next time and sticking with an up down (slightly diagonal and switching) motion to see if it flattens them out any better before they get a skim of filler. -
I have a relocation kit for sale. Happy to come to an arrangement if you're interested.

Cool . Yes they are I believe. Would have to double check but I'm fairly certain that's what it says on them lol. Sorry mate but the seats are just too large and heavy for me to post. Seats are collection only.

Took the next step with the bodywork yesterday... A guide coat to flatten so I can find all the small dents to try and get the body as smooth and straight as possible before I paint it... I didn't get chance to finish it yesterday before I went to MFN (a local car show) and got numerous dirty looks and muttered comments lol! Looking forward to going next time with it freshly painted and in it's prime -

Cheers dude . I love the mk1 bumper when it's all painted nicely. I'd kick myself later if I'd cut it haha! mmmmmm not quite haha. I have some other plans . Thanks sexy ;) Thanks mate! Boosting 0.8 bar at the moment. I'm not running a fcd but once I've checked the fueling, if it seems stable enough I may install a FCD and go for a bit more, or I might do it properly with a emanage blue and a boost controller. Undecided! Bend over xxx I saw his build thread and I did like that he had some nice parts lined up for it. I suppose he ran out of time -
come to my senses..not looking anymore...beefa powwaa ftw

I shall ignore you too then lol! -
I've recently brought the POTM thread back to give everyone the chance for everyone else to see their arty photography skills and had a surprisingly large amount of submissions last month. I wondered if there would be a similar amount of interest for a video of the month competition? It could be anything from a vine style 10 second video to a 30 minute documentary providing that YOU made it, and it's a starlet related video. Can be filmed on your phone, a DSLR, super 8 lol, you could do a compilation of photos and put some music to it or just walk around your car with a commentary. Share som

Thanks Luke lol!

Fair enough mate . Regarding mapping though it doesn't need to be someone that works on starlets. I'm not clued up on mapping but I'm fairly sure that most programs map by changing number values in boxes on a grid along with the equipment to read the fuel ratio and monitor knock etc... So anyone that does mapping should be able to map the car in theory... If the engine does pop, the going rate for a new one seems to be about £400 at the moment. That said you always run the risk of breaking something when you run more power whether it's mapped properly or not... Hope it goes well
-
Landscape only please matey. Shame because it's a nice photo haha.
-
It's still a little blurry to be honest matey... See if you have anything a little clearer and if not I'll make an exception and post this one for you.

As Mikey said haha . I've since taken the manifold off and snapped a stud in the process, It also revealed all the original cracking inside the manifold which has been welded up... It's not really that much of a problem to replace the stud and the manifold shouldn't break again looking at the welding, however I've reduced the price accordingly. Thanks and bump

Plug and play ECUs are not so plug and play as people make out... They are plug and play in the sense that they remove the speed limiter, raise the limiter a little, remove fuel cut etc. However with the map, as far as I'm aware it will have set parameters that are more aggressive but will not be a "map" for your set up... Even with a plug and play you should 100% still run a pressure regulator and have the fueling adjusted to get it as close as possible... In my opinion a "plug and play" ecu is about as good as the standard ecu with a pressure reg and a FCD and still a short cut method of run

I thought it would be a good idea to write up some clear rules for the Pic Of The Month Competition (POTM), to save confusion! - One photo allowed per competition per member - Only landscape photo orientation!!!! - The photo can be of any style as long as its starlet related, i.e motion, landscape, nighttime, interior, macro close ups, set in a scene, car half built etc. Try and be creative! - Please only enter high quality photos - some could be used in the annual UKSO calender! - The closing date for submissions will be the LAST DAY of each month. If you post AFTER the last date, even

I fitted my sard reg yesterday and I'm running about the same pressure on a td04 at .8 bar. I'm not 100% how it's fueling tbh but pulls well and I have a bit of black smoke so not too worried. Will get it checked when I can lol.

Time is up folks ! I will be putting up a poll thread for voting ASAP ;). Cheers.
