Sefton-EP91 replied to Sefton-EP91's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Thanks for everyone's opinion. Tbh I'm glad you have all said valve stem seals because it now gives me an excuse to replace the hg. I suppose I will have to get on the case of buying all the parts. I was going to text you later but I had no doubts in my head about the turbo hence why I put it in engine section again lol I will set at gettin parts. I will keep you updated of any changes mate I had also heard you could it with the head on Sam but I think I'm just going to go the whole hog and do the hg as well. Have head skimmed, OEM head bolts etc. thanks for the reply mate it's much app -

I did do a sniff test last week and came back fine but I think I will do another one just to be sure. I have been told that zisco are doing a group buy on valve stem seals but I can't seem to find the link lol I will do another sniff test and check the coolant level and feel back. I will also carry out another WET compression test to see my results. Thanks Aky for your help. -

Yes the turbo was primed before fitting and it does seem to be more blue than white. Like you say it does look white but it definatlly is more of a pale blue. It's used half a litre since last week (fitting turbo for the first time) as far as I can see it's not using coolant but I must admit I haven't checked for a few days. I have noticed a considerate amount of water sitting in the tip of my exhaust. Even of which I know is too much to be moisture.. I also had a feeling that It could be the hg but I also feel it could be valve stem seals. If need be I will have to do both at the same tim -
I have a ct9 custom hybrid made by Liam d at midland turbo and am having a few problems. I have carried out a compression test again for the second time and results cam back at 172 psi across all four cylinders and with warm engine and WOT. I haven't carried out a wet test again but going by my last results which were done about a week ago they came back at 220 across all four cylinders. Here is a small video of my problem... I have had the turbo sent to Liam twice now. The first time was a full rebuild and second time was inspection and replacement of centre section. Any advise is

Are you talking about the same one you made for me Liam? If so mate it's absolutely insane. You might want to consider getting one shorty.

White smoke on idle and blue smoke intermittently...
Sefton-EP91 replied to Sefton-EP91's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
I was also thinking the results were good. I would have thought that putting oil down the bores would fill the ring gaps hence the difference in compression. Rather than the rings being worn. I'm going to do a hg sniff test tonight after work and I will feedback with my results. If it is the hg I will be replacing valve seals at the same time. -
White smoke on idle and blue smoke intermittently...

It Bubbles over when Cap is off and accelerator is pressed. So I would say hg has gone. I'm going to do a sniff test tonight. I will feedback with my results. -

White smoke on idle and blue smoke intermittently...
Sefton-EP91 replied to Sefton-EP91's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
I will have to whip the plug out again and have a good sniff to make sure it wasnt fuel, I did have little sniff and im pretty sure it wasnt fuel. Tbh I havent really noticed a drop in coolant level but this could just be were I havent driven it. It's doesn't make sense because there is quite a bit of carbon build up in the overflow tank. Also when I take the rad cap off the coolant level rises and bubbles over when the accelerator is pressed. Which would indicate to me that there is something pressurising it? When I do a sniff test should I do it over the radiator or over the over flow tank. -
White smoke on idle and blue smoke intermittently...

But spark plug number two was wet mate. So could it still be the head gasket even though my results were bang on? Thanks -

Right tonight I have carried out a compression test my results were, with WOT and engine warm. Dry test: Wet test: Cylinder 1: 170 Cylinder 1: 220 Cylinder 2: 172 Cylinder 2: 220 Cylinder 3: 170 Cylinder 3: 220 Cylinder 4: 170 Cylinder 4: 220 Could people please give me there opinions on these results. In my eyes they are bang on but would just like clarification on that. On removal of cylinder 2 spark plug before the wet test, the plug was very -

A compression test was defo going to be next course of action. I will feed back with my results. The mileage is 152k km 20.000 of thise are miles.. -
Just before I start... The car is a 1998 glanza v 4efte. The turbo is a ct9 custom hybrid built by Liam d at midland turbos and has done literally 20miles yes 20 miles so the turbo is for now out the equation hence why I put it under engine related. Since fitting my WEPR power up kit yesterday I have now been experiencing white smoke on idle and itermittently blue smoke when driving, I checked the coolant overflow tank and I also have noticed and considerate amount of carbon deposits in there. Back to the smoke, when I start the car from cold in the morning the WHITE smoke is stupid amount lit

Where should I start, I messaged liam regarding a ct9 turbo that I wanted refurbished. He gave me a very quick response and was also very honest with all the questions that I asked him. So the parcel was collected on the 3rd march. And I received It 6th march. The service was just second to none. Now my intentions were to stick with the ct9 and run 1bar UNTIL I text liam asking what he could do to the turbo to "beef" it up abit and he responded hybrid it. So out of nowhere I agreed to have it done. I was sent pictures throughout the rebuild and im sure if id asked for more I would have receive
