I would do the stem seals regardless. I had a bad smoke issue and I did the valve stems seals first as I was sure it was that (compressions always bewn good so knew no issue there) and still remained.i did the valve stem seals in situ without removing head.i used the rope down bores method turned out the actuall issue was the stock ct9 I had was fooked.had it rebuilt and hybrided and all smoke stopped. g

all down to looking after and maintaining as these cars high performance at the end of the day. regular oil changes keeping an eye on afrs decent boost controller to stop over boosting a good tune and most important......warming car up and cooling down appropriately. very reliable cars when you do the abpve

timing ten degrees before top dead centre.

mark all main points on timing belt with a paint pen. do this on top pulley, bottom one and oil etc. thats how I always done it and perfect ly back on each and every time as u cant do it wrong.

yeah wedge a spanner or tool in near the pulley and that woll do it.used same method for years now. works well.

I would prob go with a corolla manifold from what I have read. afaik the 4efte gives more uptop power but ideally u want a nice linear increase throughout rather than peak punch.

What power you running on the starlet ??? Sounds wicked at redline. when does your power come in and full boost come in ??

Yeah a good permanent fix is a good quality black sealant round all bungs and fittings that seal against water. just had all this leak business wih mine.was an old bung not sealing to well anymore and sealnt has sorted it out beautifully.

nah only a vac leak would allow revs so high I think.
