  1. Ive always wanted to put a shorter ratio'd G-box in my car but although Ive the full list of ratios and boxes no-one could tell me what cars they came in. Now Ive found it for myself on the VIN plate of all places. Ive got lists of gear rarios but never knew 100% which gearbox was in my car. Noticed this on a VIN plate earlier today. Although I still not sure if the code is written on the gearbox anywhere. VIN plate is on your bulkhead behind inlet manifold. Colourcode/TrimCode/?/Transmission. This one is from a 1999 SR ukdm. So this SR has a C154, which I will be putting in the Paseo whi
  2. Remember the 5efe flywheel is smaller than the 4efte one so you need to use the 5efe starter motor
  3. Glanza ecu no good. I have 7.1 or 7.3 of lift with turbo cams. Were your cams reground standard ones?? What duration did you go for
  4. Ok Ive identified most of the pinouts but I need help with these few. What do these abbrevations stand for EGW SEL NC CF IPV Most of the differences in pinouts seem to be the diagnostic ports connectors, meaning the car should run without them, I'll swap round the distributor and igination pins tomorrow and try her out
  5. It can be done on the cheap with a homemade manifold fitted with motorbike itb's like on homemadeturbo.com I had a 5e runnin with them with no management. Run rich as sin but it worked was the point. Dont start this project unless you are a commited diy mechanic. My advice, buy second hand emanage blue or other piggyback ecu for £250 then start boloting on manifolds and that.
  6. Id like to see the pinouts for the early ep80 ep85 shape 100ps ecu

  9. 4efe are fit for 100bhp. Spend your money wisely. corolla inlet manifold, any universal backbox, cut out the cat, then get a piggyback ecu or fuel computer. Greddy emanage can be got second-hand, plus you can fit it to your next car
  10. The turbo regulator from the end of the fuel rail was fresher, small changes in fuel pressure make differences so i decided to make sure my engine was well set before tuning. Also I hate spending money. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go... I hate that saying, do your research, double check everything people tell you on the net as most are just quoting something they read elsewhere and didnt quite understand. Good fresh oil makes a big difference, I engine flushed a 5e and put in cheap cheap 10w-40 oil and the difference was amazing. 4efe valve springs start to float after 5500
  11. Toyota went from 50mm tb down to 45mm to increase torque so decide which your aiming for first, 4afe is best fit 50mm for our uk 4efe, although you'll have to get the corolla tubular manifold bored out, so just go for the fte manifold instead but get a spacer for between mani and tb that hangs down the back to cover the iac port which doesnt be covered properly
  12. You dont need the injectors. If you dont understand that then you shouldnt really be messin with it if you know what i mean. The o-rings are easily nipped and cause leaks, keep a good eye on them on first start up, good luck
  13. The early engine is much like the 4efte, totally different sensors, distributor, throttle body, the works. I think when lads go to the scrappy to salvage the tubular inlet manifolds they should lift the ecu aswell is all im sayin.
  14. This is different to my pinouts on the uk4efe, but use this template to make to pinout lists, one for your 4efe and one for your jdm ecu. Then go to the loom plugs and on the bottom side pop open the lock plate 1mm or so. Then using a stiff sewing needle or similar, push up the plastic retainers and pull out the pins; one at a time. Then reinsert them to match the jdm ecu. You'll be missing a few so these are where you need to add the knock sensor and any other missing sensor wires. If this sounds like alot of work you really shouldnt be messing with electrics or engines, stick to spoilers and
  15. Yes but for there size, they could easily be mapped and tuned
  16. If you had opened up the ecu's you would see that the pinouts are different, or rather the same but in different positions, there are only 6 extra wires for the jdm glanza s into a uk 4efe. Im making a field extension harness to move the wires about for testing. Really to fit a glanza s ecu into a uk 4efe all you need is fte turbo inlet manifold with sensors and the knock sensor as they are same as glanza S. The different wires are just for the cold idle thing so in theory it should work without it. I'll post the pinouts and that later. Mines not fitted ive only started on the harness, thanks
  17. 4age is hard to come by in ireland at a decent price. Please stop shouting 4age it, the point of the thread is to broaden peoples views of engine swaps and stayin n/a, like I said at the start 5efe is coming harder to find cheap since the turbo boys have taken an interest in them
  18. My friend has a 4afe Corolla G6r, great engine and quick, they rev to 6800rpm, really wish I had just fitted one instead of spending hundreds of pounds rebuilding the 5efe; twice...
  19. 90bhp standard, the G6R came with 110bhp, just imagine the torque over them little baby 1.3 with their cute little ct9's lol.... My point is its cheap and you could buy a whole donor car for £200. Theres no replacement for displacent. And no their not shit engines they are toyota's, all of the FE family. You can also buy bolton turbo kits for the.m. Youtube 7afe turbo paseo
  20. Immobilizser only problem on SR starlets but you have the same problem with fitttin 5efe ecu. Just take the transponder from the donor car. im not on about 1st gen engines that are more like the fte, I mean the bugeyed corolla with the tubular inlet manifold, we should try fittin the ecu aswell when your down the scrapyard gettin the manifold
  21. What lift you gettin from your cams?? Is it intake and exhaust
  22. Im doing it as per Daox diagram. Have a two way vacumm soleniod with a check vavle tee'd back and this only open when my rpm switch tells it to open. Its not active at the minute as theres no need for the shorter runners just yet on the 4efe, im currently limited to 6500rpm. Rpm switch was made by my father 30years ago for his bl mini and work 100% tercelrefernce.com
  23. I know but the 4afe and 7afe are cheaper and readily available compared to the others. Bar the drivers side engine mount the rest is good to go. Im welding the front gearbox mount to my crossmember as etc engine torque damper
  24. 4efe can make 128bhp, stick with it for a while tuning, everyones says just turbo it just turbo it, but just spend your money on things you could use on a turbo engine too like a piggyback ecu etc. Keep it well serviced with new oil filter and 10w-40 oil dont put 20w-50 race oil its too thick and heavy. Let her warm up before racing and dont sit on the rev limit, 5500rpm is where the power stops. Corolla inlet manifold, decat, any backbox you like 2inch maximum hole and get a piggyback ecu. Dont spend £200 on a exhaust manifold you dont need, and dont bother with trd thin headgasket
