  1. Do you have a big air gap round the back of the throttle body where it meets the manifold. Does it idle high or hesitate when you put your foot down. uk throttle body does match to fte jdm inlet manifold unless you use a metal spacer to cover the air gap at the back. JDM mani is best for power up the revs or corolla for lower down torque
  2. An aussie made 4efe 128bhp with a few bolton mods and a good piggyback ecu. 4efe revs higher easier than the long legged 5efe. I have both engines with same mods so far. Love bouncing out the b roads in the 4efe revvin away. Why not fit a 4afe or the 1.8 7afe its as handy
  3. I have a 4efe coming together at the minute. UK 4efe 4efte head cams etc 5efhe ACIS inlet manifold 5efhe 4branch exhaust manifold Glanza S ecu Apexi ~SAFC air/fuel controller I will let you know what power it makes, can you tell me what you compression is in psi if you have a guage. Mine is 220psi with standard 1mm gasket and the head skimmed. My old 4efe made 95hp at the flywheel with just corolla manifold and decat.
  4. 4efe tuning has never really been fully explored. I have turbo heads on both my 4efe and 5efe to great effect. The cams are all different according to the part numbers and my n/a love to rev now partly thanks to the stiffer turbo valve springs. Dont disrespect the 4efe just yet
  5. Please someone go down the scrapyard and fit the 1996-1999 corolla 4efe ecu into there starlet and see can you feel the etc power. Or maybe it really is all in the inlet manifold.
  6. 5efe are becoming hard to find since the turbo boys have taking an interest in them. A 4afe 1.6 from a corolla or avensis is as easy to fit as a turbo conversion or 5efe if not easier. Find a bug eyed corolla and take the engine with all ancillerires manifolds mounts and engine loom .Then ecu from behind dash and get wiring. Engine is same dimensions as 4efe, engine bay similar size, and engine mounts in same place in corolla as starlet. Remember the corolla also came with a 4efe. Or whos brave enought to fit the 1.8L 7afe
  7. there is a difference between N/a 5efe cams and 5efhe n/a cams which have more lift r duration. Which are you talking about?
  8. you 4efe has its own inlet cam and shares exhaust cam with5efe. 5efe shares inlet cam with fte and something something. Yes they are all different people Ive checked. Please stop saying they are all the same. I have fte heads and cams on my 4efe and 5efe includin the stiffer vavle springs. They love revvin now
  9. Glanza S has higher psi
  10. Just fit 4efte engine, turbo and ecu and sell the glanza S engine and ecu. You'll get more for the glanza S stuff. Its easy turbo conversion cause you already have the looms and stuff in, like inlet manifold is all the same. Every cheaper to fit a turbo engine than turbo your 4efe. You have a glanza with NA pistons exhaust mani and ecu really.
  11. Motion doesnt have his glanz s ecu fitted yet. He managed 100bhp with just glanza s injectors which are the same as 4afe corolla 1.6 and inlet manifold and exhaust manifold. So thats a standard European 4efe with corolla inlet, 4branch exhaust and bigger injectors making 100bhp. Well done mate I got lost in translation and thought you already had ecu in it.
  12. Hello mr. motion. Today i am making ecu pin diagram for my new glanza s ecu. I will send you the information or if you open ecu both, you will see information beside each pin. On the dashboard loom plugs it is easy to remove wire pins and repostion in new correct places to suit glanza s ecu. You can start without knock sensor but message jaystar77 and he will help you with new sensor and loom plug. It is single wire.
  13. The fastest easiest way to remove engine to split the inner cv ie cut of the cable tie and lift the engine and gbox as one out the top as it goes up the drives come out of the cups which stay in the gbox, an hour to reomve looms and manifolds airbox radiator and carbon canister. Means you your not messin about tryin to centre clutch and bolt up in car to gbox. Completely remove gbox side mount and brackets and lift engine slighty higher on driver side and turn alittle anticlockwise was the handiest way I found. Apoligys if Im tellin to something you already know. Video it and we'll start a @
  14. Use the standard starlet throttlebody. A uk 4efe ecu can make those figures dude. You should try a 4efte manifold on that car I think you will find more power.
  15. Wat ecu revs the n/a rev limit to 7500rpm. I made 62bhp at wheels 95hp at engine with only corolla manifold tte backbox. Did your dyno operator comment on your car?? Need more air, more fuel?
  16. Tune the 4efe. Fit turbo inlet cam for increased lift and rise the rev limit. she'll pull just past 6500 where-as the 5efe dies at 5500. Sounds the shit who cares if your goin fast
  17. The fte manifolds sounds much better than the noisey corolla manifold. Really heavy grunt out of it. The 4afe throttle body would be a better option from the 1.6 engine. TPS sensor fits all good and well. the throttlebody will have a gap below it at the manifold so you need a wee plate made up to block this gap. You'll see wat I mean. Also take the throttlebody studs and bolts from the 4afe manifold cause they are longer. Now you can add or reduce spacers to increase your torque with the fte manifold
  18. Wats the glanza rear arch liners about Phil? Are they different?
  19. Stop driving it right away. Do a compression test. A guage is £15 and will help you out. Is she using alot of oil r wat. It might be a simple enough reason for it though. Is it a new noise or what did you do when you noticed it. Be honest it helps lol.
  20. Are these going to be tuned to length +bhp items or just make and see items. £200+ is abit much to pay for 4 pipes from the head to mate to the standard union an downpipe. Will the proatype be rolling roaded first?? I'd take one
  21. Joz lad have you pictures anywhere of the fhe rods and pistons? Also have you seen the rods that came out of the uk 5efe. I cant wait to see what you make, Im so glad your havin her tuned without the ITB's to see this engine build is going to change FE N/a tuning around the world lad. Does EMU rev the rev limit??
  22. Do me a favour lad stick like a garden hose or something up your backbox lol and see is it straight through, thinking of makin one for the seo.
  23. If you dont know leave it alone and get someone who knows and learn by watching them this time round. Have you a complete secondhand head with valves cams and seals if so you'll be able to copy that. Valve stem oil seals are easy put on but easy to bust and you wont know you done it til engine is running and blue smoke pumpin out the exhaust. Get the haynes manual for a 93-99 corolla it covers the 4efe engine and that'll help you learn. Stick new head on and play with the cracked one, I cracked mine over christmas on the 5e and replaced it with turbo head this week. Best advive go to mechani
