I fitted a wideband recently so i could cowboy my fueling for my td04 until i can get booked in for mapping I was going to fit my new fpr when i was on the motorway and i had to sink the boot to overtake someone or else it was gonna cause a crash and i looked at my air / fuel ratio and it was reading from 11.7 down to around 10.3 after 4000rpm with the foot on the floor. I've heard people saying a ratio of 11-11.7 is what your after so am wondering if its fueling ok with the standard fpr? I usually get around 14-15 when idling / cruising at constant speed, 12-13's when in low boos
  2. See the forged components he used were fucked as well so it was so much more expensive than just paying a garage to forge once on parts alone. Personally i wouldnt criticise anyone who paid someone else to build their engine. By the time u add up machine shop costs and hassle of carting an engine about its not much different than getting the likes of racetech or td to do it for you. The way i see it is your paying them for their experience and they have already made their beginner fuck ups
  3. I had a mate that forged his own engine. He said it was just nuts and bolts. He fucked it big time, cost him double as he had to replace the whole engine and pay someone to do it properly. Hard lesson that boy learned

  5. Fuck this got pretty intense. Its beyond me how someone can even think about doing this kinda shit. Did browner not have issuse with weyro? perhaps it was someone else who he had paid for goods but not received anything. FPR maybe?
  6. Sounds like it could be bad earths. Happened to me when i reshelled my glanza, i was missing the earth that goes from the drivers side engine mount to the firewall. Theres another few behind the battery, on the front cross member, on the gear box etc... Could also be bad fuel. If the fuel has been sitting in a tank for a long time and if the tank has been open for a while the fuel will go off.

  11. everyone says that ^^^ surely you can choose the ecu then use the best person in the UK for mapping them. Dunno bout you guys but i'd happily travel to the other end of the UK to get the best guy for whatever ECU i wanted to run.

    Aye mine is pretty bad. Any time i stop at lights i get a massive wiff of burning oil. Nasty!

    Fuck it might as well do the both crankshaft seals and the oil pump. Some oil near the gear box too. Hopefully that will sort it!

    My starlet has always had a small oil leak from, what i thought was, the sump. The sump has a big bash on the bottom of it so i took it off and resealed it (using hylomar blue which was a bad idea!) and made matters much worse it seems. So i bought a brand new sump and used a different sealer (loctite copper silicone) and the sump seems to be fine now, except there's still a leak coming from behind the crankshaft pulley The oil seems to be coming from that notch my fingers pointing at. Replace the oil pump and crankshaft seals?

  21. I've not updated this in a while, kinda ran out of money and didnt want to dip into the cheeky grand i have stashed for the full respray. The interior is back in minus the rear seats, it has all its windows. But the main news is that its..... TAXed MOTed and Insured got a brand new sump ready to go on to sort the leak then its mapping time! tempted to go with a dastek ecu. Unsure of my plan just now.
