Turkish91
Might sound wild, but I'm trying to think of a quicker engine for the SR, with extreme reliability at the same time...so as the title suggests - does anybody know if a b16a out of a Civic VTI / SiR will go / has gone into an EP91? I appreciate its no way gonna be an easy, straight swap but I'm just looking to see what peoples thoughts are and if anybody has ever done it! Because if not, and if in theory it can be actually be done then I am so tempted!Starlet SR VTEC Edition anyone? ;)
ste91
;) get out!Why would you want a B16?
Sparky
Why would you want to do that??Blacktop 4age is 170hp and revs hard on the standard ITB'sNot an easy conversion theres only one in the UK but at least its still Toyota ;)
GAZ@A&G_TUNING
was thinking about this conversion a fair few month's ago, going down the vtec turbo route, BUT it's alot of work and the b series engine is a fair lump, spec with the design od the inlet going backwards, would be alot of work and prop best to just space frame the whole front end to get it to sit were you want it to
Turkish91
I'm addicted to VTEC!! I had an EK Civic before it wasn't a B16 it was a D15Z6 but my mates B lump in his EG Civic is unreal for what it is! I just thought it'd be original, hardly done, and spastic fast for a N/A lump, but still with impeccable reliabilty - as lets face it a lightly tuned B16 is still gonna be reliable.Plus it'll have that what the fuck factor - can you imagine it, a Starlet with VTEC? It'd be mint! ;)
Russleh
if you want what the fuck factor and vtec then for all the work you may aswell somehow squeeze a 2.2 vtec in the boot or something ;)
200sx-Starlet-Jay
alternativly, your heart obv lies with honda, so sell up your SR, and get an EG b16a for.. lets face it, about 1/4 of what it would cost to do the conversion!
CRaZyKiD
4AGZE FTW ;)
StarletRick
so youd take a b16 out of one of the best fwd chassis in the world, and put it into one of the worst ^^yeah mate well done ;) lulz
Dave L-W
the honda engine turns the wrong way mate so you'll end up with 5 reverse gears and 1 forward. Was gong to fit one in a kit car but did sum research and found this out so went bike engined.Sorry to piss on your bonfire mate, would be awesome otherwise
Asad
Think the last two posts make the decision for you......
ste91
I'd still go 4AGE 20V in any case.
Dave L-W
bottom end goes in the 4age engines though thats the only thing that would make me think twice. If you want to go completely mental go for twin fireblade engines!haha!Or drop a supra lump in the back!
StarletRick
4age bottom ends go? no they dont.
Dave L-W
had 4 in kit car mate, spent alot, and i mean ALOT on the engine and it went wrong numerous times, had the crank ground, new shells and still kept going wrong.Don't get me wrong they are cracking engines but just cant get mega power from them. ecksjay
if you want vtec, buy a civic.the chassis in them is superb, even out of the box. whereas a starlet, well, isn't.they're cheap enough also, much easier than faffing around with a n/a starlet, as you'll have everything else that goes with it.i have an ek9, obviously the best of the civics, but even the vti's and sir's have brilliant chassis'. anyone who knows about the tc-ek4 can comment accordingly ;)

riko666
Amens ^^^There's a Tercel in America with a D15 I think? Or some Honduh engine anyway, but that thing was just for ghetto speedsAlso - tc-ek4?
Dave L-W
Never said they were shit mate. You need to chill out son your getting ratty.

Steve GT
I'm addicted to VTEC!!get out ;) erm heres a suggestion that no ones mentioned. you have an sr and want to change the engine and make it quicker yes? why not add a t into the 4efe lol
5T4R7ET N/A
Sound like awesome idea. But realisticaly i dont think its feasible to do. Why not just drop a engine out of a glanza or a 4AG into it.
micky boy
3sgte sounds good to me but the gearbox is huge lol ;)
StarletRick
3s is too heavy mate, the chassis cant cope with the weight, someone's done it before and it messes the handling up quite a bit.
Galliano
I'm addicted to VTEC!!The most simple answer is..Buy a Honda.
