Simon Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 Have you still got your catalitic converter fiited?Swapping this for a good de-cat (blitz is the best) would free the turbo up a lot more and you will find you will already see the boost rise as the turbo would not have to work so hard. I would do this before swapping the manifold or turning the boost up. If you cannot run without a cat in Finland there has been a SARD sports cat on the yahoo auction if you have deep pockets. I'd still like to keep it on the streets for 1-2 months before putting it away for the winter, so taking the mani off now doesn't seem like an option. I still have the cat in it's place and I'd gladly take a blitz decat if I could find one, but again I might go td04 next year so don't really want to spend too much money on ct9 mani and/or decat.That's why I was asking how much could I turn the boost up without damaging the engine. Simon Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 Heat build up is the main issue, the CT9 just turns into a heat pump after turning the boost up to anymore than 1.1 bar. That's what i found on the rollers with my first Glanza. As the cat restricts the turbo if will be having to work much harder to produce 1 bar of boost with it in causing more heat. pig666eon Posted October 18, 2012 Share Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) there is restrictions in clyinder 2 and 3, the 3rd being more restrictive, if you dont take them out then you will get a build up of pressure on the cylinder rings and they will wear out along with cracking the manifold, if you port it then both the above should be heavily reducedremoving both and giving the others a good porting then it will be fine to run as much boost out of that ct9 as you want, in most cases the ported mani will spool up quicker because of the shorter runnersthe jam ct9 manifold was a replica of the oem one just ported, it also blocked out passage between 1/4 and 2/3 to stop any pressure going back into the other runners Edited October 18, 2012 by pig666eon Quote Link to post Share on other sites
