mattyD Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Are the outer casings exactly the same? Basically I have an n/a gearbox that im going to strip, chuck away the gears and clean up and if what I think is true build up my dog box inside it but I just wanted a bit of confirmation from you more knowledgeable folk beforehand Thankyou muchly Quote
PaulStarletSR Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Well I've just put my SR box on the glanza engine for my conversion for the closer ratio aspect so aye mate, crack on Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 As far as I know the only difference is the 5th gear cover the n/a one is a pressed steel one not alu like the turbo one, other than that I'm sure there the same Quote
mattyD Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Awesome, thanks lads I will have to check with TD as to wether its an N/A box or not for definite............ would the 5th gear cover on a mk1 gt box be pressed steel do you know or aluminium like the later 4efte casings?the only reason I ask is because the box I had was consisted of a 6 bolt diff inside which I found out either came from an N/A or mk1 gt box Quote
lukEp Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 The turbo boxes are all alloy the NA boxes inc paseo ones have steel end cap Quote
klyfax Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 A 4efe, 4efte non LSD is the same. The diff housing is not the same on a LSD 4efte box. It is bigger. Thats why you can't put a standard LSD in a non LSD box.The end cap is the same, just in steel and alloy. Quote

Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 yes the ratios are different in the n/a box if anything I would say shorter you would be changing gear a lot faster, thats how they get the performance out of smaller engines there is a chart some where with all the ratios for all the boxes on it.This is what Jay posted some time ago! tayjuniour2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 So would an n/a automatic box be any good on my Glanza auto ? Quote
5e colin Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) to the op NO center casing is narower on the na boxes c1## you can use any casing aslong as it is c5# on a turbo box there is 1/2 inch of difference in length of casings between the 2 and 3 digit boxes Edited November 19, 2015 by 5e colin Quote
tayjuniour2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Tuning developments said an n/a uk automatic starlet box would fit glanza but might not hold for very long ? Quote

I am trying to figure out if the 4efe manual gearbox C140, C150 from a Corolla E11 (that is matching a 4efte from a Starlet Glanza V ep91) has the same transmission as the C56 that matches a 4efte manual Glanza v. I want to put in a KAAZ 1.5 LSD transmission. Anyone? @Jay @Claymore Quote
