redline
I've herd somwere that stretched tyres might be dangerous? Is this true?
akyakapotter
Yes as they are stretched onto the rim more chance of them coming off the rim when hard cornering
ryan lang
Mot only are they dangerous, they are gay aswell
Chris Green
^^lol I've see quite a few nasty ones where the tyres have split and ruined wheels etc.
StuDoc 72
In danger of coming off the tyre. In danger of looking like a bell end. Im with ryan here they are seriously gay leave it to the bent shots in their VW's.
Glanza Mac
I think 195 to 185 is acceptable for example but any more and it's dangerousRob.
ryan lang
195 is what i run, and are in no way stretched
funny onion
I think 195 to 185 is acceptable for example but any more and it's dangerousRob.kind of depends on the width of the wheel mate, not just the tyre!
redline
That's how mines looks on stretched tyres :s duno weather its safe or not as am not to clued up to tyres and being stretched
Amjad
195 on an 8J is fine, I'll be running the same. Drifters go round bends sideways at silly speeds on stretched tyres, as long as it's nothing silly you shouldn't have problems I'd have thought
TrisK
http://www.yokohamatire.com/tires_101/customizing/rim_wheel_width/ Read this, 195/45 on a 8j is barely out of spec.

Amjad
Grid Drifts are 8j, I think they're probably 195/45 going by what other people using those wheels have run
redline
He said there16 x 8j ?
Beastmode panda
They're not dangerous lol... Yeah, maybe if you have like an inch of inside rim showing then sure, you are a twat. But the stretch that guys have that you see day to day, no, they will be fine. You'd have to be going fucking rapid round a corner, with insane stretch for a tyre to pop off the bead! daniel_g
Unless you do it like the celica owner you'll probably be fine haha. http://noriyaro.com/?p=9586
jakeep82
having a sensible amount of stretch is fine its just when your putting a 195 on a 10j wheel it gets stupid and dangerous 195 on a 8j wheel gives nice stretch !! like this my bro's xxr 527 there 9.75j and i think these are 235 45 imo a nice amount of stretch ! Roachy1994
i had stretches on my clio they were fine and dont people drifting use stretch to so how could they be dangerous :S
Matt1878
Stretching = ugly and pointless imoStretching tyres can ruin the appearance of a nice set if wheels
Amjad
Stretching = ugly and pointless imoStretching tyres can ruin the appearance of a nice set if wheelsAll down to opinion I guess. Massive stretch looks silly but IMO slight stretch looks better than tyres balooning over the edge of the rim. And I'm pretty sure the OP's wheels won't fit easily with unstretched tyres (16x8), I'd assume most people stretch to make the wheels fit rather than for looks
Jarrod
Mine where fine on my Audi I've Been up to 150 in that and on motorway bends and no trouble at all no difference in feeling to normal sized tyres
