Ollieh17 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Just fitted external wastegate and its always open? Building no boost. Left the top nipple open? Think its a ebay special Edited January 24, 2014 by Ollieh17 Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Didn't come with one no boost for a while Quote
akyakapotter Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 that ring there bud goes on the screamer to seal it up I think Quote

daniel_g Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Theyre about 20 quid on ebay for one aswell Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 I know had to buy one. Not happy haha Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Got the sealing ring and the wastegate appears to have stopped leaking. However can only get 0.2 bar boost flooring it in 3rd and above. I've had a look and tightened up all the intercooler pipes. Not sure if its a boost leak or leak before the turbo meaning no boost is made? Nothing seems to be blowing though? Getting a bit annoyed. Now:( Quote
Zeldoz Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 That's puzzling!?What wastegate is it? As of tomorrow I'll be selling mine Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Its a ebay one. Before it was obvious the wastegate was open as it sounded like a tractor. Now it sounds normally. Tried it with vac hose connected and unconnected Quote
Zeldoz Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 On those only the lower vac is used, to turbo! Unsure why you've got no boost!? Drop me a pm Tomoz if your still in a pickle Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Yeh thats the one i plugged in. Took it off and no difference. Im hoping its a boost leak. Payday is a week away and skint!! Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Thinking if it was a boost leak though i'd hear it? It would have to be pretty big to get no boost? If anything before the turbo was blowing surely that would make a obvious noise also? Other option is I only welded the actuator bracket shut not the actually wastegate flap on the turbo. Could it be this is leaking massively (previously ported)? Quote

Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 It appeared to be sealed well while off the car. With the wastegate fully open previously and the creep on ct9s id thought it still boost high partly shut! Quote
TrisK Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 what spring is in the wastegate? you only have one vacuum? going from the niple of the turbo to the bottom port of the wastegate? top port goes to atmostphere Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 8-9psi one. Yup vac hose from the turbo housing to bottom port of wastegate. Have tried it with and without the vac hose Quote
Zeldoz Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 8-9psi one. Yup vac hose from the turbo housing to bottom port of wastegate. Have tried it with and without the vac hose Have you got the missing ring the correct way around? Unsure if would change anything... And you have got thewastage on the right way? The ring which you bought and installed should be connecting to the manifold end.. scream end is the other Quote
Ollieh17 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 yup, put it on the wrong way round the first time, but swapped it. The ring is tapered, with the smaller end in the wastegate and the larger end flush with the manifold. Quote
