EP91 - GlanzaV - Burwash Build TD05

Recommended Posts

So abit of background about my car/build (this build thread is long overdue by the way)

Previous owner was Sachin, I beleive he was a member on here.

He had the engine built/forged by the great Burwash.

Was running Race-Tech setup on a td05-16g < Standard.

He never put it up for sale but due to being a good friend i had my eye on it for a while. I then just built the fund up and offered him the cash.

Needless to say, i've been the owner for a while and couldnt help but improve what was already a good motor.

Im not a mechanic, and i would never pretend to be. I know Starlets but only threw help of UKSO and friends. I have to credit a few people before we go into this;

Rob-Sr & Charlie28 off the forum < both top guys

Whitenoize for being a top seller, same with Charlie

Tuning Devlopments and WEPR for my constant questioning.

& of course ID-Works who are just rapid when it comes to customer service.

So heres a picture of my car after i gave her a clean. This photo is stolen off of my friend Nathan's instagram :)

So one of my first experiences with Glanza ownership was boost pipe issues and a cracked Manifold.

It had a cracked manifold when i purchased it but after time got alot worse and i knew it was time to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

I replaced it with no other than a RaceTech manifold (again)

I didnt think of taking a picture knew so this is the soonest i could find.

As you can see the bay wasnt exactly "Tidy" but it was definatley built for function over form.

After sorting the issue with the manifold and getting a new one from Ricky. I devloped a boost pipe issue. Where the car wasnt used to boosting that strong it wouldnt keep the boost pipe on for longer than 20 seconds in full boost (1.6 Bar)

This led me to get annoyed, lost a couple of "face offs" with a few people i shouldnt of lost too due to have 0psi of boost.

Many of times a night spent underneath the front end on the side of the road in the pissing rain just to reconnect the pipe.

This obviously had to be sorted. Luckily for me i know a few guys that arent shy with fabricating and welding and within a couple of days i had a replacement.

Being the type of person i am my next move was pretty self explanatory.

I wanted to rip everything out, so after 30-40 minutes this was the state of what once was the full standard glanza interior.

Me and a good pal of mine decided it this point to make the car red again.

I originally took it to the polish to give it a rinse and discovered that my paint and hot water actually brings up a shopping list of old stickers down the sides of the doors.

I wasnt going to sit back and do nothing so popped down the local halfords and brought every stage of G3.

The next day was spent trying to make her red again to the best of our abilties (please dont be fooled, this car isnt a minter, photos just do it justice, too much infact)

So after a while of not having the time to work on the car i made a decision to get it tidier/faster and more up my street.

Toughen up the edges and make it abit agressive.

I like my lag monster :p

So just before christmas 2014 i decided the time was now, and i would go on a small shopping trip.

I had to get rid of a few bits like the new manifold and i decided i want something 100% asbo.

I spoke with Sacha @ WEPR (Who i might add is possibly the nicest and most helpful guy ive had the pleasure of dealing with)

and i ordered up some much needed parts;

Sacha sent me that cheeky picture and from then on i knew i could just sit back and wait for it to arrive!

Top bloke, honestly, without getting gay well... ive said enough.

A couple of weeks past, Sacha kept in touch the entire time through email and my delivery arrived.

After getting these shiney bits i thought i may aswell just tidy the rest of the bay a little bit, nothing extreme i know but i think it makes a nice difference.

I'd seen a few twin breather rocker cover and oil catch tank setups but figured id just buy all the bits and get friends to do it on the cheap.

Brought the lines and fittings and this was the result ** MORE GOODIES :) **

Even little things like a new Oil Filler Cap makes so much difference to the apearance of the bay.

Like i said before, not the best out there but tidier than before :)

Still functional and still more in the future for this car, Im serious about keeping this and building this to how i imagine it in my head.

I can understand everybodies pain who is building a project car; Money, Time and Problems

Nothing ever goes to plan, i didnt even want a project car but managed to talk myself into it :')

So after a full fluid change, new filters and gaskets etc, figured there was no harm in getting it turnt over.

Let it warm up, blipped the throttle and this was the response;

OHH DID I MENTION I GOT A 3" SIDE EXIT FABRICATED :) Asbo mission well on the way

I think i made Sacha proud...

So with that sorted it was time to put something on the inside so i called for backup in the form of my welder ...

So in the theme of things, i rang up another company and decided to spend some more money.

I call it the race car fund, it never gets bigger, forever getting smaller ...

A couple of weeks past and a big boy parcel was waiting for me at home.

So i havent yet completed the fit but one side is in and secured. Looking for any suggestions from any glanza owners that have done them (Inbox me photos of how the fronts are fitted)

Quick picture update of them ** TEASER **
