StarletRick
take it off, and see if its cracked. the CF will be ok, its the epoxy that breaks. if not... then get some super fine (like 1800 grit) wet and dry and give it a rub down with some water. then get out some polish and give it a buff. i have some clear indicators on the way over from jdm if you want one mate. ill do it for you at cost. the question is... howd you do it, you big prickface? Sparky
But some of the laquer has cracked and come off so you can see just bare Carbon FibreHow much for just one lense Rick? I know they are only like a fiver from ToyotaA stupid dog jumped out on me causing me to swerve and loose control, just grazed a sign post. I was lucky really
StarletRick
ah ive got the full cluster set. costs about 30 quid, nm. also, if you can see the bare CF, youll need to get it re-epoxy'd. then buffed down. you dont laquer CF, you wet it out with epoxy. you can get epoxy reson on ebay mate. get the clear stuff its about 5 quid a tube. then apply it to the crack. let it dry. buff the fuck out of it and then youre ok. youre still a noob though, you should have run the cunt over. Sparky
How hard will it be to apply?Dont really know what to do... just apply it to the area where the layer has come off?How would I get it look like an even finish after it sets??
MaccyD
yeah you basically cant repair carbon without it looking shit or having the original mould. You just need to sand with an incredibly fine grain and whack some lacquer on top and polish that back with t-cut or something similar. I've made alot of stuff out of CF but we rebuild rather than repair when something gets damaged so im not too experienced with that lol.
Bourkey
Unless it's human don't swerve for anything. Break as hard as you can but people get killed for trying to avoid animals. I know it's harsh but its not worth the risk mate. Hope you get it fixed asap mate.Bourkey

Glanza_Ragger
Ouch You shouldnt really use laquer on cf, it generally sinks straight into the material, and it looks wank.Get some of the epoxy resin, have you ever used fibrefill? that fiberglass resin paste that you use to do bodywork, filling large holes and spaces...Well it sets a bit like that, UBER hard. You will need to use a spatula to put it into the cracks and any bits that have flaked off...Trying to push out any air bubbles. You will see the bubbles in it, so it shouldnt be too hard...Paste it on, so its ever so slightly higher than the surrounding area..Then using fine like 1500 upwards wet and dry, sand it so its smooth..If theres any air pockets that you can see, like holes in the resin, give it another paste of resin then sand again..Then just use a cutting compound and alot of hard work to bring it up like glass again. Its easy to get it looking spot on with a lot of patiance bud, also dont resin it outdoors, as youll get bugs and grit lay on it, take it into youre kitchen or somewhere clean and warm to resin it..Watch out for fumes though as its seriously savage smelling stuff As Rick said, you'll only need a small tube to do that repair, dont buy a whole tub of it, that would be enough to re-lay like 50 bonnets Good luck mate, its a shitter because i love that splitter <-- rhymin mofo Craig.
