Phil replied to Lawless's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust

Ste91, If the contradiction is something within my post feel free to elaborate and im happy to be clearer. Though i dont see the contradiction in what you have said as its reasonable to say that there is better ways of controlling boost than wastegate and there are also turbos designed to work with external gates. If you really wanted to dismiss all thinking on the subject thats fine im not here to enlighten anyone, as i said the coldside control isnt applicable to normal starlet users. doesnt make any of the information wrong. further you may be happy to remove yourself fro

http://www.full-race.com/docs/WG_setpoint.pdf Adam, not suggesting your mr innocent here, as you clearly accepted the opportunity to be involved in the little information tiff but do you just read this stuff or are you in the industry? the borg warners boys are pretty fresh in the field with their stuff, especially to big hp applications. too anyone about to slag the life out of me, i would qualify all of the above with this, BOV boost control is not a setup that your going to see from a starlet trader anytime soon lol its not a good system to try with you greddy B

Since handbags have been drawn, ill address the BOV query. Yes 90% of old turbos are poorly designed, especially the ones we tend to use a cheap upgrades, the internal gate systems is quite the blockage in the exhaust housing/flow. CT9/TD04/etc there are some tidier designs used, im pretty sure garretts have long had exgate only turbo options for the gt series that removed the nasty internal gubbings. that still doesnt address why a coldside control system may be better than a hot side one, and that simply comes down the modern ball bearing turbos not suffering from overspin

NA 5efhe build? kick it, then td04. thats just the way things get done got move a few things round first, but you goota be aiming for some power for sure yup and AFR and some det cans will tell you what the mines is getting up to, but wont allow you to change anything. and then well, if its behaving badly you can flog it for 500quid to the next mug Phil -

Another vote for td04, though you wont know if the Mines will be safe on the td04 until you try it. Phil -

But the scores on the doors is REPLICA cant cut this one any other way. so its worth a shining pound coin... or two get it up for sale and less of this gauging interest stuff Phil -
aint that the truth. The thread should be stopped here, we Sacha tips his hat to another trader, its point made. for the old schoolsters who wont give sam time of day, he has always been the very best price for engine internals of recognised brands, EVEN in the burwash era. Phil

haha me like. Phil -
Sam is a good lad, i used to test parts for him. he had a few parts that nailed him and those things defined him unfortunately. No longer a trader on TGTT. id buy something from him no problem at all, not even a second thought. Phil

Looks good should be a nice improvement Phil

your engine spins either, up to the point you lift off the throttle at that point the rotational weight of the flywheel governs how quickly it will slow down. heavy slows down slower lighter slows down faster. much like a freewheeling lorry wont slow down as fast as a unmaned tricycle. Phil
