  1. So I’m suspecting the sump is sealed and the crank oil seal is leaking as it only drops oil when it’s running and hot. As the seal sits behind the timing gear, I thought I may aswell do the whole timing kit along with the water pump. I also noticed a tiny bit of weeping from the turbo oil feed banjo connection so ordered the copper washers which have cured the issue.
  2. Finally got to drive the car again. The first boost saw a cooler pipe pop off. Once it played around a little for a better fitment she boosted really nicely and sounds v naughty.
  3. Got the brackets all fitted up using a nylock and washers to help spread the stress. The core is really fixed in place now while still allowing that slight bit of movement that you want
  4. Fitted it and bent it in to shape. Using it as a guide I made the upper brackets. One is slightly longer than the other, just because of the way the kit sits naturally
  5. Next up were the FMIC upper brackets. I knew the ones that were supplied with the kit would be useful for something. First I made a copy from card board.
  6. Made the intake bracket out of an old hook I had laying around. Just bolts up under the slam panel and attaches to one of the bolts in the apexi filter
  7. Thanks for the comments, it’s coming together now. Yeah apparently so ref the rods. The sump will be off soon so I’ll have a look
  8. love this thing mate, get some more updates on the go
  9. Mine need replacing, where the sump has been leaking has gone on to the wishbone and corroded it. I might be able to wire brush and paint them but would rather just renew them really.
  10. Cash waiting
  11. Are glanza and EP82 wishbones interchangeable? If not then where can I get 82’s from?
  12. I’ll mock up the brackets tomorrow. I also trimmed the intake pipe so I should be able to get that mounted properly too- the air filter needs a support bracket making. next week I’ll be tackling the leaky sump
  13. Got the core mounted nicely and then tightened all of the pipe work which fits perfectly. Really happy with he result but I’ll have to trim some of the front bumper to get it to sit on properly. This won’t be visible once fitted. Next, I need to Fabricate the two upper mounts.
  14. I ordered some threaded rubber dampers from eBay. The idea is that they will provide a little bit of give rather than solid mounting the core that would transmit shock through the threaded mounts. I had to trim them a little so that they could sit flush. Tip: if you’re trimming a thread, wind a nut on before you begin to cut. It can be used as a guide, stops you damaging other threads and once you’ve cut through, as you wind it off it re-cuts the original thread so that it’s easier to wind in to where ever it’s going.
  15. Nice clean finish and worked a treat. I widened two of the wholes on the brackets to accept the M6 bolts. The brackets are from screw fix and I had to buy 25 as you can’t buy them individually! But they are lightweight, strong and galvanised.
  16. Once the holes were drilled I inserted an M6 rivinut. I got the gun and the nuts for £28 on Amazon.
  17. Got everything bolted back up and was happy to find no more blowing issues. So next up was mounting the intercooler properly. Once I was happy with the position of the core I mock mounted the support brackets and marked up the crash bar.
  18. Today I was determined to make some decent progress after work. I’d already prepped the turbo kit to be removed so that I could replace the manifold gasket.
  19. If you get no joy, i've got one mate
  20. Those decals are the best I’ve seen mate
  21. This is the one I’ve got. Great bit of kit but you’ll need to make your own mounting brackets
  22. Breather filter for the catch can arrived along with some front wheel spacers so that the Rota centre caps don’t pop out
  23. Another nice little job sorted. I’ve now blanked that vac line on the inlet manifold too
  24. Used a nice bit of pre- shaped vac hose from some work I did on my fabia a while back. Has two different sized ends which worked perfectly as a step down.
