Manual and automatic engine difference?
morgey replied to EPnick22's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Low milage Auto engines ftw! Cant see the limiter being any different, its not on levins, my auto ecu limits at 8.2k the same as other manual ones -
Any pictures of you setup webby? My battery is in my boot and want to keep as much room as possible. Also Where did you run the lines?
-
Do you think they would fit inside an arch grant? Would love to hide the pump in there and run the lines around the arch to the rack. I've seen the mr2 pump put on a car then fitted with a variable controller so he could adjust the feel until the guy was happy then checked the resistance cross the controller and made a permanent resistor pack so it stayed that way. This is how i think i would want to do it.

Ouch! Thats mad -
Yeah i know its been done but i just want to see what hurdles people had, where they mounted the pump etc Which method are you talking about the saxo/106 pump or the mr2 version or both? If so links please
-
Right i know a couple of people have thought about this, i for one and matt as well as i spoke to him briefly at japfest, i think he also mentioned adam? I know the usual option is saxo/106 pump etc And has anyone done this and have advise or do's and don't etc Another option I've seen was an mr2 setup that can be linked into the speed signal and can be made speed variable like modern cars. I have my own reasons behind this and other people have there own. But if done well it will be a good method of tidying the bay up. Anyway i thought this would be a place for people to throw around any idea's they may have. Good or bad

Turbo on a n/a engine? Can it be done?
morgey replied to dangeestarlet's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
Run on about 0.5 bar boost the stock internals are fine. One of the companies on here had done it, was about the same speed/slightly quicker than a stock glanza. Might have changed injectors and valve springs and on an emanage iirc -
Haha i know me and my mate were like, bet he's doing that on purpose, i had a feeling it was you but wasn't sure till i saw you on the TC stand i was trying to make some noise but i have to get mine to about 7500 before the throttles take over the exhaust Yeah i figured as much all your Tc cars are so clean, and the gt86 mmmm yes please!

Making thems not the problem it was finding the material, i didn't want to go buying a load of different types if someone else had already done it and found a decent replacement. Ill give the ebay link stuff ago, if that doesn't work then ill try some copper. How thick copper did you use by the way?

Naa I've got a 4age in mine im afraid so cant help. Not sure what pattern/amount your 5e/3e's run but i know 4ages have 8 if that helps might be able to get your hands on one to try? -
Thing is its a discontinued item and not exactly a ordinary shaped gasket so not like another system still uses it I've Spoke to someone and they said it was more hassle that it was worth trying to get the part from HKS. So you can see what im dealing with Here's the first one i made to replace it, less than 100 miles old.. This is what im thinking, but not sure who does it? Looking at what options I've got really, i can machine stuff up at work but its finding the right material! Cheers, ill give that a go if i don't have any luck with this then i guess its more custom parts haha

Yesss!!!! Soo much win! That boot/spoiler was made for this car -
Trying to find a good quality exhaust gasket material for my hks manifold to downpipe/collector tried 2 types that my dad had laying around and both have split and caused blows within 300 miles. Apparently the only original left, is at hks in japan and tbh i dont really want to know how much they would want haha Failing gasket paper anyone know somewhere that can make good quality gaskets, the hks one had a metal compression ring around each runner which would have easily taken the pressures of the gasses. Whereas paper/cardboard ones obviously cant, so ideally something along them lines. Any ideas, links, numbers, or extra info would be greatly appreciated Much love, morgey

Sounds more like fuel cut or something

Think you can adjust the pedal under the dash. I know its a lot of hassle but you could try a different box. Or the "sugar cube" on the selectors might be worn. Or maybe its the cables, they might have corroded inside a bit but having had the engine out could have upset them and caused them the stick. Just thinking of other possibilities but my gearbox rattles and it drives find an i know that thats the bearing inside as i had it apart recently

Looks like you're building quite a motor here! Just seen you're looking for an LSD do you know how to tell if a gearbox has one? as the whole turn one wheel the other turns the same way doesn't work for levin LSD's Heres a link of what to look for, that has a couple of different ones so you could get lucky ;) http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/55996-identifing-aftermarket-lsds/#entry815439 -
Is it genuine? And normally speed restrictor just cuts out until it goes back under 113mph
