  1. lol it is, its much heavier trust me you wont be able to turn wit one hand at slow speeds any more! mines been looped 4 years now im just too lazy to do a proper conversion on it. but if my rack packs up ill be doing that conversion to the new one that i get! the reason i linked it is because some people dont like the idea of just looping the pipes over
  2. this isnt the guide I've seen before but its very similar. the one i had seen was on a AE86 but it was the same idea. />http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/depower.php?x=13
  3. not sure and you cant be sure if you got all the fluid out either. i have seen a guide on a forum where this guy strips the rack down blocks the ports up and fills it with hi temp grease instead. then theres a nut that can be adjusted to make it heavier or lighter. i shall see if i can dig it up!
  4. Stab in the dark, the clamp onto the backbox come loose, hit a few bumps an its moved Try twisting it by hand if ya can then it prob just needs doing back up! Failing that need a new rubber somewhere
  5. Good! people with fog lights on do my blooming nut in! Im forever flashing my fogs at people with theres on for no reason, im yet to get a single one of them to turn them off though
  6. I know how you feel mate, my drive is just mud so any work i do i have to do round a mates or take to a garage. But i do have a local self serive garage but the bloke who runs it is a bit of a norbertface which puts me off going there :/
  7. Ask to borrow there ramp and do it yourself mate offer them like £20 for an hours hire whilst theyre fitting the tyres
  8. Might be a c.v joint then mate. Not sure if this is correct or not but i think its the outside wheel that clicks. so if turning right full lock it would be the left one clicking and if turning left it would be the right one clicking. Maybe get a friend in a carpark and drive round in circles slowly and get them to listen?
  9. Yea its worth doing i think they're only £15-18 and 4 bolts so not bad to change either. Let us know how it is once its done bud!
  10. What are your cv joints like? Does it click/knock when turning tight under a bit of throttle either way?
  11. I recon so, mine didnt seem to bad but i replaced them and it had made loads of difference, even more so once the alignment was done!
  12. Maybe a ball joint gone?
  13. Blowing manifold maybe?
  14. Not really a look alike its only got the stickers and b/box needs wheels and spoiler etc. also its completely the wrong colour and doesnt even have leccg windows haha But it would make a reasonable project i supose
  15. I heard hand helds allow for the 10% + an agreed extra few mph depending on the area because of the error that can be caused from movement. Fixed cameras only allow 10% Chances are though your speedo was slighly out so you were under the 10% unless your cars speedo is dodgey and is out the wrong way. A friends A3 was 10% out the wrong way so 70 was actually 77! Lol My corollas 10% throughout my speed range n my starlets about 7%. But the only way you will know is to wait and see unfortunately
  16. Yep. There might be a vaccum line or 2 thats on there also?? I could be imagining this tho they can be looped aswel but you will have to do that on the inlet mani aswel if you do that. Again i might be imagining it all lol
  17. Yes this is true but if nothings there to look at then they have to be looking for it, or you get friendly with the testers lol
  18. Yes a proper manual rack will be different to the p/s in the sence of gearing as theres no way you could sell a car with steering as heavy as mine! but Fitting a non p/s rack isnt that simple it needs the column and the mounting points differ on the bracing under the dash so theres loads to change in doing it! Im looking at the new mr2 setup its speed variable so if setup correctly it can be made really nice for town or spirited driving And mines been looped since august 2008 still not locked or broken or anything play is still minimal aswel, personally i dont think its much to worry about.
  19. These 6 bolt diffs then? Whats the DIFFerence?? (lol cheap pun)
  20. Non turbo?
  21. Naa you could make an adapter harness, someone just sold a ep82 p&p with one so could be used on either cars
  22. Yeah when travelling at speed theres absolutely no issues what so ever with cornering as you are only doing small movements on the wheel, its at speeds of 30mph or less that its a complete b*tch to turn! Its just not very nice, i mean its been like it 3-4 years so its obvs not the end if the world but it has its moments where you just wish it had p/s where I've never sat in another car and said i wish it was manual!
  23. You guys are mad! I had to remove my p/s and loop over the pipe mine had, because i didnt have the room for the pulley with my engine and i hate it, its heavy and snatchy and generally all over the shop on B roads. Im far more confident in my corolla on either stock springs or apex ones and thats got P/s, i can drive that so much closer to the limit for longer and on much worse roads Im going ellecy p/s when i find a setup i like!
  24. Id almost say its missing an earth, my car did this after i did my head gasket, turned out it was a bunch of earths on the back of the intake manifold we had moved to the wrong place. Put them where they belonged and it started nearly instantly!
  25. Haha good work, could aways put sum scaffold boards down n slide it along them without to much bother id imagine
