My 1993 GT engine (in UK EP91) has over 220k km on it and its had a 1k+ standard rebuild for peace of mind. I have been assured that it is now fresh and it certainly drives like it. This saves it inevitably breaking down in the near future just due to age, wear and tear and associated leaks etc. Here is the level of rebuild that I went ahead with on my project with some things probably unlisted: - Cylinder head tested, skimmed, port matched and chemically cleaned. - Engine block tested, skimmed, bores rehoned and chemically cleaned. - Three angle valve grind - Crank polished - New Toyota oil pump - New Toyota piston ring set - New ACL bearings - New Toyota valve stem oil seals - New Toyota headgasket - New Toyota crank oil seals - New Toyota oil filter flange gaskets - New Toyota rocker cover gasket - New Toyota camshaft seals - New Toyota Inlet manifold gasket - New Toyota Exhaust manifold gasket - New Toyota turbo oil return pipe - New Toyota Rotor arm and distributor cap - New Toyota Inlet manifold port matched - New timing belt and rollers - New Toyota injector seals - New Blueprint fuel filter - New NGK sparkplugs - New Blueprint Waterpump More info and photos of the rebuild can be seen here As Idrees said, these really are bulletproof engines if maintained properly, however it is more to do with miscellaneous gaskets and various oil seals that start to get crusty and crumble due to age which will need replacing. Once you have some of the engine apart you may feel that you want to go all the way and start replacing bits and pieces in the head. A 4EFTE toyota rebuild kit will cover all of that. If you ask many people including myself, 'if its not broken don't fix it'. This means that it will work out better to drive your FTE engine and enjoy it until it really does need a rebuild without neglecting it. Obviously if you have very serious problems such as major oil leaks or knocking from your bottom end than a rebuild would be very much on the cards if you have the funds and want major peace of mind. At 75k miles she should be fine if she has been looked after by looking at the service history. I'd service or replace the turbo only if it is giving the car problems. As it is a turbo engine, oil consumption is higher so make sure to maintain your oil level religiously on a regular basis. Hope this helps Joz

Back to business for ★ UKSCNI ★ Joz

It was a crystal resistor of some sort that they used. However the top end of an n/a is completely empty, to rev even as high as the standard limit is not needed besides giving a placebo effect. There is no extra power there. Joz

The EP91 n/a ecu's are two plug lads. Joz
-
The most important word in there is 'boost' thats what gives these engines the extra kick/push they need. The n/a just doesnt cut it/compare even at redline unless you supercharge it which again is another form of boost. Joz

That's it in a nutshell Go for the platform where the tuning gains are guaranteed and proven. Still costly but you will get a much better drive. The factory 5EFHE does rev high (7200rpm) and I'm sure it is an efficient drive but it will never reach the heights of the 4EFTE without drastic measures. The emanage ultimate lets you set any rev limit but even @7000rpm it didnt make much difference. Joz

★赤い星★= Akai Hoshi = Red Stars = ;) Joz

I'd keep red ranger and get it translated in japanese text. For example my project name is Akai Koudou ;) Type that into google and shake a stick at it. Joel if you want me to think something Jap up for you leave it in my hands mwhahahaha,.. Has to have 'Red' in it right? I'd base the name more on its characteristics and thats 'red carbon aggression/danger' for your car. @Dan, UKSC RedStars ftw! Get lukep onto UKSC decals for us! You can change your own group by the way Just like Red Suns ;) Check this shit out Red Suns Change the jap to read 'Red Star's in the same layout, and have the decals white. Leave it to me Or....... ★ Team UKSC Akai Stars ★, f*** YES!!! Joz

I'm running the Sigma M30, its the older version of the S30 and its pretty straightforward feature wise and reliable. It came on the older Scoobies as standard. The most common thing that goes wrong is the fobs but thats pretty much the same with all alarms. If I'm honest you can get a whole Sigma kit off eBay and get someone to install it for you locally for way less than £300. There are others bits and pieces that you can buy for it too. I got my Sigma (basic kit) for £30-40 brand new and £50 installed from a local guy who fits them in his spare time. You may be better off with some of the newer brands, at the end of the day you just want reliability and the fact it has to work when it should. Good luck with your purchase. Joz

Now that both members have the opportunity to contact each other to sort this matter out privately I would encourage you to do so. This matter only concerns both parties involved and does not need the participation of the whole forum. I sincerely hope that the matter can be resolved amicably (on a good note) If anyone has any unpleasant experiences with particular members selling do not hesitate to post in the sales feedback forum. That is exactly what it is there for. This thread will be closed once Jonny-boi32 can get in contact with Paul as it will have served its purpose. Thank You Joz

I'm sure a lot of people would be doing the exact same thing if they had been screwed over mate including myself. You are not in the wrong and you probably have evidence. I just hope that this can be cleared up quickly in the best interest of everyone. I request people to please refrain from posting anything inconstructive as it would just add further fuel to the fire until we get the full picture. We are trying to help the situation, not blow it out of proportion. Thank You Joz

UKSC does not accept any responsibility for sales transactions however Jon is 100% free to name and shame a seller that he has expressed he is clearly not happy with. We do encourage buyers and sellers to come to terms privately but this matter is obviously already out in the open. Sales transactions are supposed to go smoothly and if there are any problems then you should be easily contactable. No questions asked. Blocking a member so that they cannot pm you is clearly not the answer. I'll be hoping that Paul can post this evening to publically clarify the situation. Please don't think that I am personally against Paul, as this is all part of getting to the bottom of this and clearing the air. In the meantime please can everyone refrain from posting until he does so we can hear him out. If both parties can still manage to get in contact privately and come to an agreement or solution that'd be fantastic. Thank You Joz
