  1. The other main difference is the KYB SR Specials are damper adjustable. I've only seen these available brand new on the Yahoo Japan auctions. I can see them being quite expensive for a new set but they would be less hassle than Konis. Konis however are a pretty good street/light track setup used by many other cars not just ours.
  2. Very nice man, they did come out very nicely I'd change the valve caps to some cheap jobbys because the rays ones always get nicked! Keep up the nice work.
  3. Glad you like Idy Lots of developments in the next few weeks...
  4. Project Red EP91 5EFHE Rebuild Update Chu parts revealed! Last set of FRP Chu Ganador Mirrors with added Carbon Effect (taken from Chu Purple Glanza) FRP Chu Reverse Scoop Front Back FRP Chu 98/99 Front Splitter Now that should be a big indication of what front end I'll be changing to The rest of the bodyparts should arrive late next week... Managed to take a quick photo of the Samco coolant hoses too, were defo worth the 1 month wait!
  5. Project Red EP91 5EFHE Rebuild Update Chu parts just arrived - Will open later. Gearbox won't be ready until next wednesday night at the earliest so it is a small setback. The guy who is doing it is away until next week. In the meantime I will use the time to gather up any small bits I need. VHT or BBQ paint for the block, hmmm... @MJ - Glad you enjoyed the last update man, as for the FHE bits not a chance lol. I'm really looking forward to see this running too @Phil - You seem just as excited as me lol
  6. Very nice update Gary. The HKS Silent looks gorgeous. As for the Defis I hope they serve you well man, you got a nice deal there. Well done for getting them, can't wait to see them in action along with the rest of the car. Keep up the good progress man, will be keeping a watchful eye on your project.
  7. Seeing as Rob has a spare mani its more handy for him to provide it as I would have to post it over Velocity stacks are indeed the trumpets which attach to the top of itbs and carbs for more volatile flow. How will it work with a manifold pipe? Unless you meant something else? The flow will already be heavily increased from the manifold itself, the taper just helps give a truer diameter for the exit of gasses from the collector pipe to the rest of your system.
  8. Thanks Rich I'll get a better comparison of the rods soon. As for the head I'll be holding onto it as a perfectly good spare.
  9. Thanks Ben Check here if interested for all photos of the inside of the head and other stuff. September 08 Blog Entries I can't take pics anymore because its all built up as you can see.
  10. Thanks Si I'll be even prouder once its up and running. Its a shame I couldn't get more photos of the new stuff going in but at least its all built up and ready. Cheers for the support man and that lil something will need signing for
  11. I will get some decent comparison photos soon Noel mate. The EMU can alter the rev limit, add and trim fuel and also has launch control settings to name a few of its features. Thanks for your enthusiasm and support towards my project man. Talk soon.
  12. Project Red EP91 5EFHE Rebuild Update Engine fully built bar the timing/auxilary belts and clutch. The old flywheel weighed at least twice the weight of the lightened Aasco item I have replaced it with. The crank pulley was also quite heavy (had harmonic damper attached to it) in comparison to the ASP underdrive pulley I will be using. With all this loss of rotational weight I can forsee the acceleration of the car is going to be fairly improved. Previous 5EFE Head (Replaced with fully loaded 5EFHE head) Previous Head Gasket (Replaced with TRD 0.5mm Headgasket Previous 5EFE Rods & Pistons Photo of one of my spare 5EFHE rods/pistons (Trust me they are way beefier, like Hamburger vs Big Mac) Better 5E/FHE rods comparisons to come later. Just waiting on QUAIFE'd gearbox and some painted engine brackets. Spare rocker cover also being painted. The block will be cleaned of rust and painted. Interesting facts are the 5EFE and 5EFHE pistons look very similar, they could even be the same. Of course a 4EFE piston is different. Having seen firsthand, the 5EFE and 5EFHE sumps are also the same. Contrary to beliefs that the FHE one has some baffling inside, it is the exact same as the 5EFE one. The bottom of the FHE sump was more rust free so it was used in place of the old one. More updates to come soon, all going well the engine should be running early next week.
  13. Yes the headlights are longer Ken We have never seen any covers for the Glanza though. There are even two specs of Glanza headlight, early and late spec. according to our parts department
  14. Its unknown mate which is what makes it all so exciting. I'll be getting a full dyno session etc so you'll have to wait til then. The good thing is everything is going to be tuned properly with the emanage which totally defeats all of the bolting on I've been doing these few years. The FHE items themselves are already a healthy bump and the FHE head has had the works done to it. Its not all about power tho, I think it will be different with the lightened flywheel, lsd, underdrive crank pulley and other stuff I have waiting to go. Don't forget the itbs will be the main difference maker however the setup is already very extensive. The car is light as hell too hence it already flies once it gets going at its current spec. Assumption is the mother of all f**k ups hence Im not gonna speculate
  15. Glad you like the update man I've pmd you the details lol. Talk soon.
  16. Um red, red and red? Catch you online later mate, might be pissed after the Utd game tho Should go and play poker really lol I really enjoyed it last time, who knows...
  17. Cheers Johnny I may be taking her to be tuned by Emanage sooner than I thought just so that Im not running too rich or lean. The FHE stuff will really bump up the compression. Im considering driving her for a week to run her in then take her up for a nice base tune. I have used mainly all new components but the head, valves, rods, pistons and cams are 2nd hand low mileage items.
