geo, i was talking in comparison from a small turbo to a large turbo. any small oem turbo regardless of if its hybridised wont rip your face off. i was really getting at the fact that although itll give you a little push in the back, its never going to be as good as a turbo designed for higher end performance. like a td05 or something. i also said a stock situation. you use a fmic, which plays alot to the power delivery. CT9s are way out of their efficiency band at anything over about 10 psi. they were originally designed for diesel motors that run only a few psi of boost. thats why a fm

30 weight oil is ok geo, if anything the engine feel slightly looser than it does with a 40 weight. give it a go

heres my car on RSR Ti2000 springs. ive got them matched up with some Kayaba SR shocks. its a good matching set. wheels are 15" with 50 195/50 tyres. the car handles well (although i have other handling parts on the car) and ive never had any scrubbing they are noticably stiffer than stock though G mate.

10w30 fully synthetic is a good choice. i used to use the comma stuff when i had a pretty standard spec and that was fine. get a new oil filter aswell while youve got the sump empty. as for the brakes, they are pretty straight forward changes. just remember to copper the new discs and pads to stop rust and squeaks.

110 - 120 bhp n/a please
StarletRick replied to starlet ryan's topic in N/A E-Series Engine Discussions
if you get some better crank and big end bolts. you can easily rev the 5e to 9,000 rpm. if you get the compression right, some nice cams and have a good ecu running it. there is no reason why a good 150-160 hp isnt achievable. but youll be spending some money on it that would be better spent on a 4efte swap. -
that looks nothing like a turbo downpipe, because, it looks exactly like a centre section for an NA.

The Cynos B Turbo...or Asshat as I like to call it

mate get some 14" wide feckers and streeeeech them on fur winz. -
oh, in that case, yeah, hybrid it up. make sure whoever you get one from offers a good warranty. because ct9s are shit, and when hybridised they tent to die if not setup absolutely perfectly.

you wont have alot more pokey out parts of the ae111s mate. they are floaty calipers, all the bulk is on the other side. -
i think they may even be 14s. which is where you should be on a starlet, your handling must be horrendous with those bin lids on it ^^

build your own turbo manifold
StarletRick replied to ChineseMafia's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
no, i mean the stock cast manifold. if you get a dremel in the 3rd runner you can open it up quite a bit. that said, it will be hella better with a freeflowing manifold. but i know you are on a budget, so a ported stocker is ok for the time being. for those of you that dont know, 9b compressor is like, tiny, its hardly any bigger than a ct9. -

he also has a new intake manifold gasket that is currently pwning his face to pieces ^^/ also, 59, changing a clutch line takes about 5 mins. then you just bleed the lines and refill the clutch. take you half an hour. -
how much boost you running. because 10ish psi isnt gunna be burning the road up on any turbo if its put on a stock starlet. hybrids are made for top end flow when compared to the ct9. thats the only thing the ct9 struggles with. its pretty good for low boost/response as stock.

my car isnt being mapped till the 16th. so i dont think ill be making it down in the V why cant you do it another date. like after the 16th for example, lol.
-
yes, he should. he has big car wheels, and you have small car wheels. perfect!
-
welcome to the site. now get some smaller wheels!
-
id sell it next year once ive got my S15, yeah. id rather keep it in the forum with someone who will look after it aswell. ill want about 8k for it, which you will spend twice getting a starlet to 400hp.

if sticking with the TD series, youll need at least a td06 20g. and it will be horribley laggy. you could do it on a td05 with some N2O though. there are plenty of turbos that can hit that power though. the IHI RX6 has been used before on a starlet. HKS 3037 aswell. you wanna just buy mine mate save you lots of money ^^

if you are not running higher than stock boost. there is no point wasting money on a hybrid mate. the ct9 is fine for a stock boost. hence why toyota chose it on the first place. hybrids are only really worth hitting up if you plan on running higher than stock pressures (ie, 13+ psi), usual range for a hybrid is 1-1.2 bar.

i can, but theyll cost literally 40 quid more. the machine still needs setting up. and if its 1 or 100 it still needs the same setting up. you pay for setting and then the material. hence why a 1 off cut will cost LOTS more.

for the money, you may aswell buy a pre made one mate, the greddy type s is a good boost controller, and they are pretty cheap.
