will a 96 glanza manual ecu work in a manual 98 glanza? as i really want to overcome this power loss between the models! Rich. ps. anyone know of anyone selling one?
-
nah, hes just bought it mate. eks or anyone for that matter... do any of you guys know if the 96 glanza ecu would just plug in and work? or is it likely to have different wiring?
-
fook me. thats proper fucked. shite, sorry to see this man... we all know how much effort went into geoff. RIP
-
poo. i had heard something about that... will a pre 98 ecu work on mine? so can i just change it over? yeah, as with my old starly i learn pretty quick how to lauch with very little spin, just wondered as i got a tiny bit of spin in 2nd in my old starly, but none in the v. nice one, cheers for the heads up eks. hes not too sure... its had a fair bit of work done on it... but it is defo faster... to be honest after hearing this from eks i really dont know what power mines got!!
-
another question... do most people get alot of wheelspin out of second after launching? as i dont really seem to get any at all?
-
it depends what you want... and what you can afford to insure! you'll find insuring a glanza difficult... but if your going to go full remix kit you would be one of very few (possibly none!) in the uk to have done so! Rich.

yep, hi/low mod is done. this is one of the cars that when you look round it, you cannot fault it, in anyway... everything is presteen.
-
thats what my thinking was... when i first got the car it was a fooking rocket and was boosting to .9 bar, but it was being caused by a boost leak, which i fixed... but i keep feeling a little dissapointed that its not that little bit quicker, as i drove a different standard glanza a few weeks back and it seemed faster? i dunno. i might go out for a bit of a test tommorow night and have another go.
-
you'll need to take the top mount off, and its the stopper for the throttle. its kinda hard to explain. you should find it no problem.
-
yeah, i know alot of people dont like them full stop, but i have alot of respect for ones that get done properly. well all im running is rear section (backbox with a bit of pipework) and hks bov, running .6/.7 bar. so still pretty standard, it needs a service pretty desperately, but i think im getting around the 8-8.5 second mark to sixty it seems to really bog down sometimes...
-
yeah, i know. its awesome. its quite a bit quicker than mine, but its a bit more even than with his old 2.0L vs my old starly. but to be honest, mine doesnt seem to be as quick as it should be at the mo... what sort of rough 0-60 times do people get?
-
thought i should keep this thread alive! went out the other night for a fancy dress party... one of my mates went as borat, he looked well convincing! and one of me and the mrs. gettin the old hairy chest out! grr Rich.
-
took some photos on a day out the other day, my mate brung his new car... ANOTHER 2.0L corsa ... it is awesome though! just thought id share. its got a rear disc conversion some massive discs and calipers, lightened flywheel forged internals etc etc... and its well fast and one of mine its had a respray in an awesome audi red... i officially love the colour! Rich.

i have one at home too... again i bought it for my old 4efe it didnt work when it was just plugged in, it'd probably need rewiring. i'd check to make sure the engine you get it from has the same injectors and stuff though.
-
it might do, if the revs drop too much i think the engine looses momentum, so will stuggle to idle.
-
nice one oli mate. told ya it wasnt that hard.
-
the way i see it, if the car had a bov fitted as standard, then i wont remove it completely. just my opinion!
-
i think you would have to speak to a wheel specialist and buy a pcd conversion spacer, it would push the offset out though. it looks like a wheel spacer with studs coming out of it.
-
you cant remap the standard ecu, and i dont think there is a chip available. the only easy way you can do it is the way i was gonna do my 4efe, i had bought a jdm ecu for the starlet (jap spec, which rev to 7200) and tried that, but the wiring was slightly different, so i needed to get it rewired. i never got round to it though. other than that you could try a corrolla 4efe ecu and see if you can get that to work, im sure they have a higher limit.
-
you might wanna try adjusting you idle up slightly, theres a grub screw on the stopper for the throttlebody for adjusting it.
-
yeah, i noticed it too. anti virus kept going off! ive got avg, its pretty awesome. im scanning but so far no virus! bonus!
-
it could be done, it would just need some fabricatin work to make it fit.
