  1. i'll ask you a few questions why are you looking to get a bigger throttle body? what kind of mods do you have? what type of power are you running? reason being, the stock TB seems good for about 300/350bhp from what i've seen, no real need to go upgrading just for the sake of it.
  2. http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/80675-best-td04-donor-car/ some info there
  3. yeah, so many good results with emu/emb over the years. So many users with the emu/emb systems on their cars if there was anything amiss, someone would have said something by now PS - slightly derailing from this topic, the only thing i can recall which some ep91 owners complained about in the past (very long time ago) was SAFC fighting with the stock ecu after a period of time and reverting to "stock setting"....but i've no evidence on that topic
  4. i've never heard of this to the best of my knowledge, once your emu is hooked up and tuned correctly, your engine should be safe
  5. Subaru seems a popular choice with a lot of kits from various makers available as well as in the classified section Mitsubishi also have a few variants, but maybe some custom work needed to use those it's not really a choice of which is better...it's more what you want from your car always build your car to make yourself happy
  6. http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?22570-Engine-Diagrams-amp-Parts-Info scroll down to near the bottom http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?67023-Throttle-Body-Pipes-* hope those help
  7. i'm after a 1998 spec one for my ep91 is it possible you can take a closer pic of it so i can compare it to mine?----from the above pic it really looks like it though

  9. http://dproberts.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/td04l_rebuild_manual.pdf that is the site we used a while back to rebuild an old ct9 hybrid we have no turbo repair shops on my island, so we took a chance doing it ourselves after the rebuild, the ct9 hybrid turbo worked for a very long time before it was eventually sold (still in working order) however, i understand what the others were saying to you, as it can be a bit of a risk
  10. that's the item i'm talking about in that pic at the top right ---is this what you call the indicator stalks?
  11. hi do you still have the ep91 combination switch (indicator/headlight.washer control switch) which goes on the steering column? see PM
  12. have you read through that long tread on ttgt? http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?18701-The-Official-EMU-Tuning-amp-prob-thread!-Launch-control-success-thanks-to-fur!
  13. somehow my own research differs. i see people swapping all over the place, but they tend to go vf35/34 or for the bigger (not stock) td05 upgrades (18g, 20g, hybrids) the oem td05 is very strong i'd agree and takes quite some abuse ---even antilag on a rally car i've seen..lol most of these turbos seem to top out at 320/350bhp on subarus with supporting mods however, i noticed the back end on the stock td05 is somewhat smaller than then vf35/34 which seems to affect the td05's top end in comparison to those 2 turbos
  14. the tdo4L from the subaru on a 5e gives a great power band for everyday usage...very responsive. you will need to get a proper tune for your set up (fuel and ignition)...so at minimum an emu, or go standalone the 5e flows pretty good for a small engine, so having too small and exhaust housing will be a restriction
  15. sometimes it really depends, new oem bolts may not be available, so the old ones are reused my preference is news bolts, but having reused old ones, i've never had any problems in the past also, we did some testing a long time ago...seems the final average is between 45 - 50 lb/ft when you install the oem head bolts as stated in the usual manner i'm not a fan of the 90 degree final turn as its a bit "iffy", that's why we found an average to work with
  16. could you explain this a bit more please? are you talking about a stock subaru td05 turbo versus a stock vf35?
  17. i run mine through a rubber "boot" behind the glove box area on the firewall. It has some other electrical wires running through it into the engine bay
  18. does your idle "hunt" when warm? usually high idle is associated with a vacuum leak. recheck all those vacuum hoses to your TB, Power Steering rack, ICV, automatic choke, etc. also, the idle screw itself carries an o-ring on it, you may want to remove it to see of its worn and leaking
