getting more power from non-turbo (4efe)Starlet
keirz replied to starlet ryan's topic in N/A E-Series Engine Discussions
Firstly, a corolla inlet manifold would be a good buy. when used with a performance filter you will see good gains. also strip the bitch out! best mod i ever done to the n/a i had. i never really experimented with exhausts so i cant really say much on that subject. lightened pullys would be an option too. -
my fuel light is sparatic as hell. comes on when i turn left, goes off when i boost it but then comes on when i put it in 5 in low revs. i tend to boost it and swang to the right, stays off then!

my old one was called steve this new one is called steve-V for obvious reasons.
-
been there done that paul. still smells like dump. lol. cost me about £12 to do that, only masked the smell for about 2 minutes. i might just remove it.
-
check the pipes on the boost solenoid to make sure its not been bypassed first. i did this, was driving around thinking "this button does bugger all, theres no difference" and then i checked and it was bypassed. if it aint been bypassed then bypass it! full boost in all gears.

i like to call it......... the one that smells a little less like shit than the full air con. my Air con smells like ass big style so i never use it. lol.

welcome to the club and good look with the search. ep91 is the chassis code which applys to the glanza, which as you know is the turbo version and also applys to the n/a non turbo version like the sportifs, solidas and SRs. ep82 is the older version gt turbos, and they also did an n/a version. also glanzas are awsome they are a 1.3 4efte engine with a ct9 turbo. they run 0.65bar on high boost and are 135ish bhp standard form. any more info just ask mate. keiran

had a good bath today after weeks of neglect. mainly due to the fact ive been on two piss up weekends in a row. but this weekend i shown some love and took pics to prove it enjoy.............. and my personal fav............ first time ive took some decent pics but i was lacking a good location, so this is the best i could do. brake upgrade is now in the post too. let me know what you think. keiran.

thats class mate thanks again. i understand where the rear bar goes now and feel i can fit that myself now. the anti lift kit i might have to get my cousin to fit i think.
-
thanks for the replys. the bhp tester i doubt i will you use. well tbh honest redline in all gears on a public road. not a clever idea.
-
cheers enzo thats class mate. im sure when i move onto suspension stage i will be in touch over a few things. have you got any pics of the rear arb fitted? mainly of where the holes have to be drilled. i was thinking today when i was looking at my V that the place you need to drill will be right near the fuel tank. bit risky? and do you have any good pics of the whiteline anti lift kit fitted too? im thinking i may get these mods before my coilovers now.
-
have you had these mods fitted on your V then enzo without uprated shocks? i was gonna go straight for coilovers and then them after as i thought the advantages would be wasted if the spring and shock setup was poor. would you bother with the front arb? or go straight for the rear? also what was fitting the rear arb like? how much of a pain are the anti lift kits to fit? sorry to hijack idrees but its all relative i guess.

i would hope so. i was with 2 passangers and my launch wasnt great. only had two runs, im looking forward to testing the n/a. need a much longer road though than the one i used. its a cool little gadget and the old type like i had can be had for quite cheap second hand.
-
gotta be shocks idrees in my opinion. lowering springs on standard shocks is terrible after the shocks wear a little, trust me on the old n/a it sucked after a period the was gas shocks too. arbs, panhard rod, braces and such like will be wasted i feel if the base of the suspension isnt there. i drove my bros civic back from newcastle at the weekend and i couldnt beleive how much better the handaling was than the glanzas. it has 40 drop and koni adjustables.

got my g tech pro today. ive had a bit of a play with the 0-60 timer, best i got was 9.6 seconds with a 60-0 braking distance of 259ft which was quite poor i thought(i had 2 passangers too) plus the road was uneven which throws out timings. only had two runs though and i think i could have got a hell of a lot better. i would hope so any way!!! anyone else got a g tech, and what are your opinions on its accuracy? i have yet to have a play with the horse power calculator or the 1/4 mile timer. due to the fact that i havnt got a long enough stretch of road without speed limits. i think its qu

yeah its kinda difficult to start with. just read on the internet, use tutorials and after a day or two it will become a piece of piss mate.

seeing as though you cant drive, that brace may be unsafe to leave lying around. i have a nice safe place under my V for that brace............

this one is not a tax disk, this is the annual service known as the tennken in Japan. The middle number is the current emperor year which is heisei 19 (2007) and the smaller number round the side is the month. The car tax is paid by everyone in the country in May but you do not require a sticker on your car. not sure if you have the above but i put it in any way. this is the shakken its basically a very expensive MOT which is done every 2 years. Again the middle big number is emperor year which the shakken expires and the smaller number is the month. So again it says 19 which means the sha

the one on the rear is a parking permit. all cars sold in japan have to have proof that there car has its own parking space. the other one which is on the front window is an mot/service one. i posted up the same stickers on the old tgtt as i have them all on mine and a few extra ones. i will find the thread mate.
