not sure but cant imagine it doing it much good as if the engine is cooler so will the oil which mean it'll be thicker it'll find it harder to lube ya turbo and internals i wouldnt go booting it untill its fixed

yeh best bet if it shut jam a bit of wire in the flat bit of metal that the springs holding shut and dangle it in boiling water if it drops off its opening fine then add cold water to it it should the start to close if you have to add alot of cold water for it to close its fucked or jammed but there that cheap just replace it
-
not really as the thermostat should shut when the water temp start to drop keeping the engine at that temp if the thermostat dont shut it will just keep cooling the water more and more

not sure were about on the engine but follow the top hose from rad to the engine and it'll be round the place were the hose connect to the engine will have 2-3 10mm bolts holding a cap over it -
if it takes a while to get warm prob thermostat
-
starter contacts fuck up on them, quite easy to replace. also check charge rate at the battery and at the rear of the alt as could be a wiring from alt to battery, go halford and get them to drop test ya battery to see if a cell is down also check engine earths as they can cause slow cranking poor starting problems. luke

replace the thermostat with a new one common fault its stuck open meaning its alway running water into the rad to cool it no matter what the temp is at hence taking ages for it to warm up luke -
If its still on the standard actuator uprate it as it will make a big difference esp on the motorway and speeds above 50-60mph as the standard one is PANTS! hks adjustable one set to 9-10psi will give you a huge difference without hitting fuel cut and it will pull all the way to red line best mod i've done so far on my auto luke
