advancing ignition timing is a sure way to get hp gains in any engine. or lost hp in worn high milage engines. on the power stroke a engine will produce around 30+bar of presure with advanced ignition timing it can go as high as 50-60,

Huge thanks to Paul (cheshire glanza)

yep he is part of the comunity and will help out at short notice i have found this out first hand on many of my build. X x x -
thr are way to do adust timing but a after market ecu is the best option. Clean out the throttle body can make for better off the line response also set the idle to 1k rpm plus a earthing kit.

now we are talking fella. look up compresion ratio and how to mesure. normaly i would remove the head and place a plastic perspex flat lid over the combustion chamber with a small hole and a measuring serindg placed into the hole, now fill the space with hair gel runnier the better. now get a 1ltr tub of water and drop a N/A piston just piston into the tub and measrue the water displaced from the 1ltr tub, now do the same with the turbo flat top piston. the difference is the volume in the dome. now work out your compression ration use the volume of the cylinder against the volume of the combus

yep thy are wat is required for any tunner, plug it into a data logger. with all your other engine sensors and you cant go wrong. do not need a rolling road. i can install for 80 quid. the inavitive 1 is a bit problematic. you can plug thm into a aftermarket ecu. if you guys get 1 get a digi gauge, as a needle 1 are hard to read acreate wen your on the move. use a data logger guys its the easyest way.

N/A performance/mods/figures thread
nastyrash 2003 replied to Asad's topic in Performance & Track Days
am on it lads, as N/A power is wat i profer, as it is true tunning to get any kind of power out of a N/A engine. could do with much more engine info if you all require answer on wat wer and why . craigs starlet s, made 98hp on his first dino session, and 87hp on second. this could be down to simple service items. or dino calibrition, i think lowering compration ration with a thinner headgasket and slight mods around exhaust valves, and advancing the inlet cam with a adjustable pully will give som very good results. also a ported and polished head. yep exaust derestrictions can give some of t -
yep same from me. no point in looking like the V6. big fan of the clio cup. like the trophy better thn the V6, even thw the V6 sounds like sex.

And wat exact am i doing to the engine is it a full build you want.YEP PAUL VCAN DO URS NEXT MATR DORES THE BLOCK WANT HONEIING AND DECK CHECKING AND IS THE ENGINE STILL IN 1 PEACE AS I CAN CHECK CYLINDER QUENCH IF SO AND GET THE DECK SKIMMED ACCORDINGLY -
give me time boys im currently studying K,E,R,S. but this will happen its so easy to do. 2x25lb bottles. will be awsome on the track and the dimo read out should predic power all over the rpm. cant help feel im cheating thw. also CO2 cooling is another thing to look into can increase air density by 35%, can even get some interesting stuff for the N/A

-yep i think we all know to reaserch the engine. And many more checks are required for reliadilty. But noss does suit older engines better mainly mid 90s and earlyer. With thr very low comp ratios.AAAND COOLERRUNNING CYYLINDERS

the only reason nos will kill an engine is if you have no idea wat your doing wen fitting it. a 100 shot of noss will of course kill most engines. like strapping a massive turbo to a standard outfit. normally as a rule a 50-75 shot will be ok. but a mapped noss controler is the way forward. the user can thn add noss as a percentage any wer in the rev range. giving hp gains in turbo lag.xx this is wat i aim to do. noss is misunderstud because people do not use it right. or understand it. aslo a 10lb bottle will give u around a 30sec run constant, which is not all that good. the main thing to wa

gutted because nos is known as chemicaly charging an engine. nos containes around 64% oxygen wer as air containes about 34%. so the more u add the more oxygen enters the engine + nos does not add heat to the inlet charge + it containes nitrogen which helps controle the combustion process. plus you can add it any wer in the rev ranged. this is but som of the pros thr or cons like filling up the bottles which is y main dealers do not use it. I would go nos any day. the easyest and fastest pro modding and cheapest around. make of this wat you will but the saxo lad is not far wrong. its heat tha

look at it shine. xxxxxxx

yep mig and tig are the easyer to do, you can get a mig quite cheap, but remember never weld out side and with mig you can use co2 gas, which is very cheap, and can also weld stainless and alli.
