  1. Cheers guys, the initial plan was to paint the bonnet yellow but I like it satin black so it's staying like this for the mean time. Already in talks with magazines, cheers though. ;) I fitted a new pair of aux belts today, went over all the bolts under the car and found a couple not 100% tight (as expected) so tightened those up and got the car on the floor. I also made up a new filter relocation kit as the other one didn't hold up for too long, it came loose with the vibrations, so it now sits here: I miss the sound of the open turbo but overall it's been a couple of progressive days as she feels a lot nicer to drive just by tightening up those couple of bolts and no more squeaky belts!
  2. Is there any particular reason why you need a valve spring compressor when changing the HG? Pleased to see a cracking result for this beast! Good luck with the HG!
  3. New bonnet looks awesome, I much prefer this one tbh. It gives the car a cleaner overall look.
  4. Best exhaust choice that's for sure, now get some new rims sorted! Cough: http://www.rarerims.co.uk/wheelshop_products.asp?productid=53&rangeid=1&product=OSR
  5. Looks like a great start, I'm looking forward to seeing some progress on this. Your silver V was awesome!
  6. Nice additions!
  7. Cheers folks! I have a few extra earths on the engine on things such as the engine block, inlet, FPR etc however I'm not sure if they will actually make some difference. For the battery to have a stronger earth I imagine I would just have to find some earthing spots in the boot, I am going to add a couple when I get a round to tidying the boot up (needs new carpet and a battery box).
  8. Looks mint, almost too good to modify if you ask me! Good luck with it though!
  9. Okay, so here's a little update. I advertised my S3 so that I could get the Glanza on the road (no use for 2 cars as mentioned above), 4 days of being on eBay and it was sold to a happy new owner. I didn't waste time getting the Glanza tax'd, it was on the road within about 30 mins after selling the Audi! Good job insurance and MOT were sorted beforehand. SInce being on the road (12th Jan) she has covered around 300 miles, then I took her back in the garage to sort the squeaking fan belt (17th). I thought this would be the best opportunity for me to fit my CJ Engineering lightweight crank pulley, so I unbolted the engine from the mounts and changed over the crank pulley. Once the engine was back in place I realised the auxiliary belts were too small to fit with the new pulley, and was impossible to fit. So the next job is to buy yet another new pair of auxiliary belts and get the car back out. Other than that small issue, the car runs well. I've been adding every little niggle to the cars 'To-do list' as I'm not having it mapped until everything is absolutely bang on, or near enough! I'm having issues with the boost gauge, I bought a new boost sensor for it but it still does not get a vacuum reading so I'll be sending that back to R-Spec hoping they will help me out as I bought it brand new around 10 months ago but it's been barely every used as the car has spent more than 90% of that time off the road! I also need to make a custom centre console to house the AVCR, mesh the rear bumper/bonnet, have a windscreen seal fitted, align the headlights, and have some tidier number plates made. I'll update the thread as I get them bits sorted. In the mean time, below are a few snaps I took last week. Sorry they aren't very good but they show the car in her current state. I removed the rear window tint on the weekend, I prefer the cleaner look and besides it was the only tinted window on the car. Those who think like me are thinking GO LOWER! I really wish I could but I've scraped the bumper 3 times already. (The fuel/ABS light have now been taken care of!)
  10. Hi Just to those who have fitted this part, once fitted did your old AUX belts fit on the pulley? I've spent hours in the cold fitting mine and the crank pulley isn't like the original one therefore the alternator/water pump pulley belt is now too short and the PS pulley belt is too long!! Is it just me with this problem? So p*ssed off after spending hours in this garage last night and tonight, and I need the car to get somewhere tonight. I have spare brand new OEM Toyota belts and they don't fit either. I'd refit the original pulley if it didn't involve removing two engine mounts as I can't be arsed with the hassle right now. And shops are closed to go and buy new belts The joys of aftermarket parts! Would be weird if it's only my car with the problem. Cheers Idrees
  11. Cheers guys, I'm quite looking forward to driving it but I don't want to tax it just yet as it seems a bit of a waste having 2 cars on the road. Hopefully she will be hitting the streets in Febuary!
  12. A small update, the car is now running and I've taken it for a test drive a couple of times. All is fine apart from a very small misfire on open throttle, nothing that can't be fixed easy enough hopefully. I fitted a new steering wheel, oil sandwich plate, water temp sensor and air filter relocation kit (after finally ordering a reducer). HKS filter hiding Just some very small things to do now such as connect vac hoses on the wastegate, tidy the injector wires, check earth for the AVCR as its gone off and some other very very small things. Nothing that's stopping the car coming on the road though, she will be tax'd next month hopefully.
  13. As said on Facebook, looks absolutely awesome John!
  14. Such a little beaut, good luck with it!
  15. Spot on, this has brought UKSC up to date and looks much better and fresher than the old layout. I'm so glad the home screen (blue with clouds etc) has gone!
  16. You paid that much for Glanza headlights? I paid £140 less than two years ago. There's 2 part numbers for them, one of them cost around £70 each and the other is £100 each. Weird how they are just the same parts though. Back to the topic, you may not need to split them to get rid of the yellowing. Take a look at Sock's Glanza headlight refurb tutorial.
  17. Are you heater controls all electric or manual? If they are manual then it will be more difficult to mess with the cables, if they're all electric you can extend the loom and fit the controls in the glove box easily. Then make a custom panel to fit the headunit where the heaters were.
  18. Hi guys, Another winter and another project, I always get tempted to buy a Starlet to keep me busy over the winter months (as if the yellow one isn't enough) Most of you guys will be familiar with this, it's Kennedy's old 97 Glanza. She runs sweet but needs some attention mainly on the bodywork, the interior is missing some plastic trims but that's nothing to worry about just yet. My plans are to get the bodywork sorted, this will involve a full new ID-Workz front end, a new spoiler, new sideskirts and maybe a rear bumper too. There is a small chance she will be lucky enough for a respray, but time will tell. The day after collecting her, pure filth both inside and out: Amazing how much difference a thorough wash can make! Right, on to the work. My first job was to remove the front end including the eyelids and fit the new wings and bonnet. New bonnet and bumper trial fitted: Then the wings also removed: Next on the list is to get the ID-Workz wings and bumper fitted then get a pair of bonnet pins fitted. Once that is done, I can decide where to go with it next.
  19. None of the pictures work for me
  20. Cheers Luke, WEPR ftw! Sacha I have had her running over the last few days, just had a bit of a dodgy idle tonight due to a vac leak. Once that is fixed I can take her for a drive because I now have a working radiator fan!
  21. Awesome, cheers dude!
  22. Cheers Phil! Thanks Luke, yeah that is the plan! Cheers dude, appreciate that! I'll get some decent pictures when I can take her for a drive Japanese Performance approached us at Japfest2 offering a feature, I\'ll get in touch with them once it\'s done. Same with Banzai, spoke to them via email a year ago and they said to get in touch when it\'s finished. Next on the list is a new steering wheel, custom centre console, OEM 3 point rear strut brace, new headlight bulbs (had none since I removed the HIDs), silicone joiner to fit the air filter, catch can hoses then some sort of ECU and get her in for mapping. There are still some other little bits to do such as mesh the bonnet and rear bumper. I've just been working on it this evening, wired up the fan, fitted a nice headunit, half fitted my recently acquired ZEP engine damper, connected all vac hoses for boost gauge etc. There\'s a small air leak somewhere so I need to sort that out tomorrow then I can set the ignition timing. Another quick picture of the engine bay with the blue NGK leads. Sorry about the poor quality!
  23. What type of oil? And £10 for how much?
  24. Vag for sure. Take a look at a Leon TDI, you should get a decent one for £2k. You might pick up a decent Mk4 Golf for that if you're lucky, but as you said they do hold their value better than the Bora.
  25. Wow, I haven't posted in here for 2 months! I have occasionally been doing a bit of work on the car when I can, she is now up and running. I just need to wire up the radiator fan before taking her for a proper drive. The only new parts fitted are a TC short shifter kit, TRD leather gearknob and a set of blue silicone HT leads. Most of the interior is now back in place so it looks relatively tidy (finally). A couple of quick snaps.
