  1. It was a VF24 At 1.0bar. Excellent AFRs on the rich safe side, timing was pretty safe also (Retarded) And was running amazing for about 6months on the VF24, 4months previous on a TF035 And years before on a CT9. Had done 90,000 thereabouts mix of miles and kms, engine was oil changed every 2-3k with millers or silkolene pro s Still cant find the cause other than stress
  2. As some of you know i recently blew the glanza engine to bits, and tonight had 5 minutes to remove the sump and have a quick look. Here are a few photos for now, there will be more when the crank etc is out and the head is off. All im trying to get at is WHAT THE FeCK Did toyota think putting these rods in the later 4EFTES, Look at the size of them. My standard 5E Rods are twice as thick, no wonder they fail Not trying to scare anyone as i know i had a bigish turbo on it, but these engines can take a bit of power but not for long, it must stress them to death in a short space of time! A
  3. I always fear for my life when i see a snapchat of jimlols
  4. Thanks dude:) And i would do if i wasnt on my arse with money. spent it all on this. But to be fair the manifold has been braced and rewelded from new and touch wood has never gone wrong! Imo they fail when they have a heavy turbo and a full exhaust strapped to it and people expect it to last. I hope lol. Proper manifold and external setup will come at some point though
  5. Common on these though is to incorrectly fit the spacer provided so the strut sits on only the brass bush which is pressed into the rubber top mount I bet both of the above have had the springs incorrectly fitted, very easy to do!
  6. Traffic film remover, Awesome gear!!
  7. Thanks jord, and hopefully these photos will show you i have, no rushing here lol Thanks mate, very pleased with the outcome should freshen it up alot also! Just needs the exhaust tunnel re-undersealing then it will all be ultra fresh and protected for years to come hopefully! Big update now, Engine is back from the machine shop so i set about getting it prepped, painted and finally built! Fresh from the machine shop My 12lb Lightweight flywheel Machined and balanced clutch (All together) Engine block tidied up and painted
  8. Must say thanks alot for this guide taggy was a big help to me building mine!
  9. I would if mine wasnt smashed to bits. Cause no harm anyway really its a load of shite, slightly increase wear mabye but it wont be doing millions of miles and will have the bearings etc changed when there supposed to be
  10. Surely the damage cant be that bad if the turbo kit has survived? Whats stopping you removing spot welds and putting a new front on? Or is a chassis leg bent? Shame to see such a car broken up :/
  11. ^^^^^You were right mate thanks alot, got it tensioned right up then just let the spring do its thing, nipped it up after and turned the engine over a few times, timings now absolutely bang on On another note, the alloy crank pulleys timing mark was a mile away from the standard one so i have hacksawed one into it in the correct place, tip for other people!
  12. I got 375 for mine nobody would pay more as it didnt say JAM on it....
  13. I wouldnt bother with dump valve really unless your doing fmic etc really. Get a decent filter on it and shorten/relocate your filter and you get awesome noise off the standard dumpvalve/recirculation valve trust me. Dump valves on a standard lowish power car are properly shite imo!
  14. The bottom crank pulley adam. Its 3mm out dead, top Cam pulley is bang on the 5e mark And yes bud its an adjustable
  15. Currently timing up my Forged Engine and am just wondering a few things Its a high compression (8.8.1 Or close enough over the standard 8.5.1 people use) 5EFTE with flattop pistons I am using a vernier gauge which i have set to the factory pulley or as near as i can get as its a bit of a twat lol, and at the moment when its all timed up with the 5E Mark on the Cam pulley, and the bottom pulley mark is against the oil pump However it is out by 3-4mm to the left (Looking at the timing belt side of the engine) My question is this advancing or retarding the timing? I wouldnt mind retarding the
  16. I loved mine wish i never sold it now really. Fuelled any of my setups from ct9 to VF24 At 1.1Bar!!!
  17. Ahhhhh balls! Bottom end has been built by the engine shop, if i swap to arp main bolts now will i feck the build up?
  18. Hmm dont know what to do now, says i have to check everything and align hone etc after installation, Is this true or can i just check everything turns over freely? Surely it wont twist anything etc? Thanks!
  19. Thanks very much mate, I will double check to see if theres any specs included! And also aren't Toyota main bolts stretch type? If so surely I want to be changing them? And I thought ARP Mains held a lot harder/more pressure etc. Shame not too fit them when I already have them :/ And for the tightening sequence, is it the same as most other 4 cylinder motors, ie starting from the middle and work your way out? (If I choose to change them) Also just to add, are the ARP Headbolts M10 Spline over toyotos M9? Thanks!!
  20. As above just got my 5E Block back from the machine shop and they have forgot to use my ARP Main BOLTS (Not studs) to fit the crank caps and used the Toyota ones Does anybody have the Torque settings and the sequence to undo and tighten the mains back on? Cant seem to find it and taggys guide is missing it! Thanks
  21. Yeyyy update, Cant wait until its sprayed a military colour and lowwwww. P.S Remove them fecking sidestrips already bitchhh
  22. I have removed mine, looks loads better and weight also! Lot of piping removed so pedal should feel a bit better . Looks alot neater! And keep up the work mate, i want vids!!
  23. Awesome build mate will be absolutely mental when done, One thing i have to say though is F**KING HOLY TURBO!
  24. Thanks again mate, and its horrible having to wait, just want it back but dont want to rush at the same time! And just wait till your dropping it in, excitement will probably take over me lol FFS Jim i know list as long as my arm to do before i do passenger rides! Hahahha Another little update, Engine is nearly done, all balanced and machined etc just had a bit of a delay on the ACL bearings so im praying its done for wednesday, so i can have the engine back in! Car is pretty much completed ready for the engine to be dropped in. All the painting is finished which consists off Front ar
