  1. As some of you may know im on with removing my engine for the 3rd time and going to take the oppurtunity to remove a few things and tidy up on the way as the car is no longer a daily and can become a bit more hardcore. Powersteering is going, and i have heard the best way to do this is to remove everything associated, turn lock to lock to remove all fluid then just leave it looped up (This is how all the yanks do it on civics etc after a bit of research) Is there a better method to doing this? And that also leaves the vacuum lines on the TB Can i just loop this instead of it running to the rack? Also on with tidying the TB And manifold up, First of all can i remove the ICV Valve and just use the idle screw to set a decent base idle? Last of all is the cold start/Coolant lines that run round/under the throttle body and join the pipe on the back that goes to the ICV Valve also (Guessing it all works together) If i were to remove all this as well would it cause any problems? Thanks! And sorry mods if its in the wrong place, was unsure of a location as its quite a broad question!
  2. It will be mate definetely. Machine shop are as baffled as me so there getting it back to have a stripdown/Rebuild AGAIN. May as well fit some cams and new valve springs while they have it and they can recheck tolerances/clearances etc while its there also. Massive ballache but they arent an expensive company and i trust them so they can double check everything while its there. No point whinging about it i suppose just yet another excuse to make it quicker/tidier etc. May get a few bit powdercoated etc while the engine is out, remove the ICV and last few bits i didnt do before, and give the bay yet another clean and polish Sigh!
  3. I know dude its crazy More gutted to the fact i cant fit my turbo kit! FFS And to add more mystery to this by the way There is nothing in the exhaust/inlet ports like oil or bits of piston to show failure, engine still runs (Or did till i pulled bits off) It still has good compression, and there isnt a load of metal filings in the oil. Its like literally the bottom half off the piston has dropped off and laid itself in the sump. All bearings and rods are mint also.... What the fuck has happened to my weisco piston????
  4. Neither have i mate. Especially after it being a forged engine of such low mileage. Im starting to think theres been a problem with the custom spec weisco pistons, But i will see what the machine shop say im wiping my hands of the build. They said they will sort me out if i ever need anything so we will see... Also to add it had only covered around 3000Miles if that
  5. Looks like your winning there mate, not too far off now!
  6. Im gutted dude especially after blowing over a grand on the cage and turbo kit :/
  7. Item For Sale:IHI VF24 Ball Bearing Turbo and Toyosports manifold and decat downpipe Item Condition & Description:Turbo is in excellent condition and has been gasket matched and ported/polished to improve flow and spool Fantastic alternative to a TD04 And will make 330Bhp + On a built engine, or at a bar around 250Hp on a stock motor. Spool started same time if not slightly earlier than a TD04, Yet full boost didnt come in till around 300rpm later due the to Ball Bearing Design Manifold is braced and has been fine for the time i have used it, yet needs some welding as it is cracked round the collector (See in photos) Decat is in perfect working order. There is also a custom actuator kit which is set at a bar, which bolts to the standard block of a 4E/5E Engine to use with an internal gate Will bolt straight on as a complete kit with only a small amount of welding work required! Price: £250 Pictures: Payment & Shipping Details:Shipping i can sort but would be grateful if you could sort collection out and i will pay it / Knock a bit off the price
  8. Thanks as per usual mate! And im unsure to be honest. On an impreza from personal expierence it started spooling 300Rpm Later but felt like it came in faster (Better bearing design) And never stopped pulling to the redline. Alot of people say they spool just as well and its just they come in harder but i dont know Dont know many people running them on starlets so cant compare there either! Could be swings and roundabouts as the billet wheel is a hell of a lot lighter so should speed spool, however it is 4mm Bigger so unsure in which way this will affect it! Its also gasket matched on the exhaust side and polished, so its a larger A/R But has better flow/ie less turbulence which once again is supposed to help spool! Only one way to find out lol Thanks man Cheers matt appreciated No problem Liam its spot on i cant wait to fit it:) And you will be first port of call definetely! Cheers daz Hahaha surprisingly i wasnt! Anyway to cut to the chase this is a pretty bad update, i have good and bad news but the bad news isnt great :/ Desert first i picked up a Cusco 6 Point dash dodger cage, for a steal of £350 Delivered also from Geo And down to the bad news, have been driving it like a grandad all week to see what sort of MPG I can get and also the fact its been wet. Came home from work the other night and thought i heard a tapping sound very slightly, but thought nothing of it as my manifold has a full circle crack round the collector so just thought it was this. Fired it up the day after, listened for a few miles with no music and could hear nothing out of the ordinary, went to pull away from a junction and there was the tapping.... Spun it round after a 100metres or so, knocked it off and got it towed home. Managed to grab an hour or so today to have a look. Checked all minor things first then thought fuck it sump off, To find no problems whatsoever with the bearings, rods etc. I then drained the remainder of the oil from the sump, and found this.... The oil was still clean, no real metal filings it has literally just failed and cracked away, Engine still turns over and the tops off the pistons look A1 Through the spark plug holes. Completely baffled on how this has happened, considering it was ran in consistently, had over 120Litres of oil through it, never been low on oil, never ran rich/lean or detonated either AFAIK. All i can think is there has been a problem with the weisco piston.... Who knows The engine builders are getting a call tommorow, see what they can do if they can help me out at all.... TT
  9. Recently sent my VF35 Off to Liam and the team at midland last week, with a full rebuild and what i thought was a standard sized billet wheel to be fitted. First of all the wheel was wrong and took heavy machining (Onto a ceramic Insert which is VERY Difficult to hone out!) to make it fit, but in the end after a whole morning off faffing they managed it Couldnt wait for it to arrive and after a whole 2 days of waiting it was here and my god, Photos speak a thousand words but F**K Me its amazing Honestly looks like a brand new unit! Here are a few photos BEFORE AFTER Service was second to none, communication excellent usually via liams private phone when he was on breaks! Photos sent, everything i could want i got really so im well chuffed Secondly for the price, the amount of work i got was amazing! Will definetely use again, thanks Liam and Midland! TT
  10. Thanks mate and yours are epic also! Hahaha i thought you would! And pics below Thanks sam, and yeh its been all go with this bit crackers really but oh well Anywayyyyy heres a quick update, havent had time to fit it yet but will be going on this weekend As you may know the VF35 Went to Midland Turbo for a rebuild, and i provided an 11Blade Billet wheel for him to fit. The wheel was 4mm too big and needed a lot of machining to make it fit and work correctly. Of course this was not a problem and all sorted, So while i waited the 2 DAYS (Thats it, 2 days!) For it to arrive a ordered the rest of my gear for the kit, wastegate, heatwrap, VHT Paint etc etc. And then the turbo arrived, Oh my god i was impresssed, looks absolutely Spanking! Anyway enough of that, heres a few photos. Got my mate to weld the VBand flanges on to the mani and stainless screamer, and VHT Ceramic coated the mani and downpipe, baked that then fitted my heatwrap The Hybrid VF35 Wastegate and the state of my bedroom floor lol Mani and DP All coated and wrapped up Hopefully have it fitted saturday ASAP And give it a service, good clean and check over etc Thanks for looking! TT
  11. Mine doesnt light up when i unlock it no, only comes on when i open the doors not the boot. Never had a problem with it for ages and same in the N/A Lol! Sure your poppers on the door are okay? I Cant wait to get it back, looked epic in the photos he sent me and its here tommorow Big update As above the VF35 Is back from Liam D @ Midland Turbo tommorow, after its full rebuild There was a slight problem when rebuilding however, the 11 Blade billet wheel i was provided was 4mm too big... This was at first a bit of a nightmare as they have a ceramic insert which is very hard naturally to hone out. Hours later liam managed it and i now have a 51mm Billet 11blade wheeled VF35 Luckily i have removed a large amount of material from the exhaust side which should even out the A/R With the larger wheel. All being well this turbo should flow not far off 400hp! Hopefully the ported head can flow this much air lol but we will see. To go with this lot also i ordered a few bits which should be here tommorow all being well! IHI Turbo blanketVHT Ceramic paint for the Zisco manifold and downpipeMagmawrap for the aboveTial V38 Vband wastegate38mm Stainless screamer pipingWill be fitted ASAP and tested before i source my ECU And arrange to get it mapped when i have the funds Cant wait! TT
  12. That will do as long as its solid?
  13. As above what you got?
  14. Had my TD Pump for nearly 2 years and 10,000miles no problems and its quiet
  15. Cannot believe the attention to detail on this its amazing! Will be worth some dolla when its finished, what sort of power are you thinking of? High 300s? And personal cheeky question lol what is your profession? Do you work with walter white? TT
  16. Original plan was what my local tuner preffered but he wants 2200 fitted and mapped for a DTA S40. This includes removing old loom, trigger wheel fitted and dizzy removal and coilpacks etc however so unsure what togo for, what do people think of that? Did notice a thread about the AEM a while ago, any idea on cost etc for it jamie, HD?? I like the PFC idea but yeh it is old school, but local tuner is what appeals to me and my setup also. Decisions!! Wouldnt mind a nice fancy one but whether i need one or not is a different matter
  17. Yeh i know it is dude, im not doubting the ecu or TD whatsoever, its just a trek compared to a 15minute drive to someone i know personally and can see the results he has done previously (Same as TD As well i suppose) And i dont know really if i have a change of plan etc then it would need tweaking. Im guessing the injector mapping is far superior etc? However they both use the stock looms which is surely half the battle anyway if your using old toyota sensors. All im wondering is will i see a big difference in driveability and or power if i jumped to a wolf setup, i can find much info on the wolfs on the internet For example and EMB Is 12x12 fuel maps, EMU Is 16x16 And power FC Is 20x20, And an EMU Does a good job for most setups around 300hp? Im not chasing figures
  18. Tbh im not too sure im going to have a look into it but i assume the Wolf has many more features with it being newer i suppose but idk And yeh the local lad has a lot of expierence with everything really, from RS4 Twin turbo race cars to MR2 Turbos and scoobs etc... Usually specializes in motec, emerald, dta etc etc but does powerfcs mainly for the jap lot I cant fault them whatsoever always bend over backwards to help me out, top guys. And i would travel anywhere really but its if i have any problems, future mods i need the map adjusting for, and a few other reasons mainly not just the initial mapping
  19. As above guys will be fitting/sorting out an ECU Come payday and have a couple of options. First on my list is the Wolf V4X From TD fitted and mapped for £1495. Im aware this is a very modern, fantastic ecu and would be my first choice for a nice tune etc etc. However they are based about 3 to 3 1/2 Hours from me and this can be a problem if i want future maps etc or have any problems Another option for me is a PowerFC And using a tuner literally 15minutes from me, who has massive expierence in these ECUs and anything else for that matter. What are peoples opinions on this? Will cost me slightly less to get the PowerFC but thats not really the issue, im more interested in it being safe first and foremost Spec is Forged 5E With ported head, 9.1Comp pistons, VF35 Billet turbo etc etc To note also im not chasing figures, this is purely for it being a decent map! Thanks Chris
  20. Ct9 is tiny for a 5e, i would go with a minimum of a TD04 But i would probably pick something else like an IHI or somesorts, or many other setups on different mani/downpipe setups
  21. Cant believe you havent had one for that long! And hopefully next week or so dude when the Billet wheel arrives, then you lot can work your magic. Few more photos of said turbo anyway, Spent hours on this today cleaning up castings, Port matching the exhaust side and oversizing it so it should make more power. Knife edged and angled the inlet also and removed all excess material to create a cleaner entry for air onto the compressor wheel. 11Blade BILLET Wheel should arrive shortly then Midland can get it rebuilt for me! Thanks for looking
  22. I joined in just for the fun of it, some absolute cracking ones from local to me lol dont know how they can get better!
