Mine seems to have quite a glint to it, but I have never seen 2 different shades of 205 with differents amount of glitter in. Would it not be an idea to just get him to get two tester pots and just spray each on a piece of alloy then you can take it back to your car and compare?

Carbon deposits in the engine are very bad, and tbh are probably best left alone. Breaking off a deposit can create a hot spot in the cylinder and will cause pre-ignition, destroying your engine in very few miles. Unless the engine is going to be stripped, cleaned and rebuilt I would leave it alone.

Probably headgasket mate, they are all over the place. Did he do a wet test? Dropping oil down the bores to eliminate the rings.
-
If the car has always been run on 99 fuel or higher there won't be much deposits.

Nothing wrong with knife edging, but it is wise to get it heat treated and then crack and pressure tested to ensure that there is going to be no long lasting effects.

Theres no doubt you do make more power with cams, inlet and whatever else, but it also changes the powerband. As you initially said that spool is your main concern, its best to have a longer powerband.
-
If spool is your biggest concern I wouldn't bother with cams, excessive porting, aftermarket intakes and throttlebodies. You can always try the dyno without these things, then if more power becomes your concern, you can always upgrade. Always best to start off at the bottom and work your way up, no point spending needless money on cams, manifolds etc for them not to work, you'll only lose money on them at resale. I'm in the same position and thats what i'll be doing.

Depends what boost and power you want to run tbh. I've been in contact with Keith over at zisco about the setup i'm planning on running (forged 5e with GTX28 turbo) and he has told me they are good upto around 400bhp without cams and oversized valves. I'm going to get mine mapped and run on the dyno then see if there are any improvements to be made.

Anyone interested in the drivers seat? Have a potential buyer for the passenger seat.

Recirc valves are stock items and a DV is an aftermarket product, both do the same thing. If they didn't have any use companies wouldn't spend millions in R&D configuring these products. They are there to do a job. They don't help spool, they help with throttle response once getting back on the throttle after being off it.

I personally would have a rev limit set about 3-500rpm higher than when you stop making power. As said best to check a dyno graph

This may be of some use to you mate... http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?93543-What-kind-of-power-Evo7-TD05-16g&highlight=twin+scroll Not sure if they are the same turbo as used on the 7 and the 9, but I can't see why they would change.
-
I would have thought the td05 from the evo would be twin scroll.

Bumpy need these gone asap!

Idle at cold about 5 bar, warm idle about 1-2 bar. Generally you want 1 bar for every 1000rpm as a good guide
-
check the wire from the thermostat, its tiny and very easily breakable

I do have them mate, I took them off as I tried fitting them to my Recaro's but they won't fit them, so I can include them if someone wants them

This Just because the oil's dirty doesn't mean theres anything wrong, thats the oil doing its job. Just replace it more often than not.

LOL quality, my mrs can't stop going on about this book!

Boost gauge sold GT seats have been added
-
Test it by going up a hill in 4th gear and watch the rev counter.

The LSD from an OEM LSD box will NOT fit in a non LSD box. Which is why aftermarket products were produced, and in fairness are probably better.

Wasn't sunny here yesterday although was fucking humid. Bit of sunshine today and still pretty humid. -
Connect the Red 12v and earth to the cig lighter. The orange will go to the lights stalk under the dash. The white im not sure of. It will need calibrating, I would hold the button with ignition on, then at idle if you don't see somewhere near 14.7 then calibrate it again with the engine running.

Where did you go for you Link and who fitted and mapped it mate?
