Nope, nothing.

You'll be able to change the backbox without needing the map tweaked, however if you change the mid pipe diameter or shape that will require some fiddling with the calibration.

That's correct, depending on whether its a right hand or left hand corner, the oil will flow from one side to the other through the doors and the opposite side doors will then be shut not allowing the oil to escape. The pick up lands inbetween the baffle. The doors are just located on a hinge and depend on gravity to open and close. Aye no doubt some cars need it more than others, and likewise some drivers need them more than others. Back in the day when I used to play with the C20XE Vauxhall engine, because their pick up is basically just a gauze filter on the end of a tube, you could cut the tube and weld in a piece to make it longer and sit further down towards the floor of the sump. This could be something possible on the 4E/5E engine, but I know they have like a supporting bracket which will also require some adjustment. Just as an idea that could be worth looking into.

Oh my what a can of worms... Apologies if my comment was belittling if it was a typo from Stu, but coming from his reaction, it appears not... Anyway, rather than carrying on and being childish. I'm not trying to "impress" anyone, but this is a public forum where people come to share knowledge and experience... What I do know is that a fairly well designed sump and oil system will be able to sustain approx 1.2g laterally. Reiterating my previous comment that "most" road tyres won't be able to provide this level of grip (unless the car is fitted with aero). A well designed trap door baffle sump will be able to sustain up to around 4g of lateral force, after that you're getting into dry sump systems. BTCC cars are wet sumped with a baffle. This isn't for a Starlet but this is what a trap door baffle looks like for those that are interested. This one I use on my track car. And fitted to the sump

If you've got tyres that can't even pull 1g while cornering which most road tyres can't, then explain to me why you would need a baffled sump? It's not a bad idea to have one, but for the sake of possibly a couple of trackdays a year, the money can be better spent elsewhere as it's not a necessity... Sorry I forgot everyone on forums designs and builds race cars for a living... lmao

You can get a sandwich plate which sits between the block and the oil filter which will have a couple of bungs on it, you can insert the sensors there for temperature and pressure. Most of the traders do them or can get them.

It's all relative. Unless you use at least semi slick tyres, you don't need a baffled sump. Unless you're seeing oil temperatures reach 120 degrees C for periods of time, an oil cooler isn't needed. Test first, and put the money elsewhere.

You don't really need to worry about a couple of degrees, only worry about that when you're near the limit of detonation.

It will alter the powerband slightly. Rule of thumb: retard = more bottom end torque , advance = more top end torque. Advance and retard it 2 degrees, see what you think.

Don't you have to have a minimum order with them? Ie you have to order 25, 50 or 100. Otherwise you're basically paying for prototype parts which is going to be costly.

It's all relative to engine size, it's not just about size vs bhp. 2.5 inch will be fine, but no doubt you'll gain more by changing system.

Ask who built it what they prefer it to run on, will depend on clearances. But 5w40, 10w40, 10w50 (track) will all work.
