The first gen were poor, 2nd gen were better and people seem to be happy with them. Whats your engine spec? Most people don't even need cams, or choose them for the wrong reasons.
-
You need to get a build thread going mate.

Take a read through these http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ignition-system.htm http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ignition-system4.htm http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ignition-system3.htm It is a very long winded process to explain as there are so many variables which effect the engines operation. If it still doesn't answer your question let me know and I'll write it up

Try the spark plug holes mate. Spray some WD40 down there.

I think you'll regret it massively. It's ok saying you can go out and buy this and that, but think long term, you may only have the car for a year or two then what? You will wish you'd have kept the starlet a little longer.

Yeah I'd probably say it's about right, I find cornering fast is the biggest killer of fuel consumption. But Amir is also right, fast acceleration, harsh braking also reduces mpg.

I think a glanza would probably be better suited for a daily, I think the interior is nicer, bit more modern and you don't actually feel like your in a tin can. The seats are shit though. Glanza I had just lowered on shock and spring setup I thought handled like shit, but with a few tweaks I'm sure it could be better. Glanza also looks more modern on the outside, that said thought I prefer GT's because I think they got a better range of styling.

Paid a bit over the odds for that mate

Dial them in using a DTI gauge, don't waste everything you've done by using the stock marks as they are pretty useless and can still be as much as 2 degrees out either way, which will cost power. If you dial them in they will be neutral, then your tuner can use an adjustable cam pulley to alter the valve timing to suit the map. This is where the E series is let down though as its not a true twin cam design Am sure I've given you the cam specs before haven't I?
-
Yes the larger wheels will cost you in fuel consumption as it's more mass, more inertia to rotate when stopped, more weight to drag and pull.
-
Put tape over the air filter, put the cat back in the exhaust will stop it. Or change manifold setup and go for an external gate setup.

People aren't even willing to pay that sorta price for a forged motor mate, hence why they all get broken. I reckon you'll be better off selling some bits and then sell the car as a whole. How long it will take though is another question as that depends how much you value it at, and what someone is willing to pay.

5efhe cams.4efte engine....4e or 5e settin??
AdamB replied to PaulStarletSR's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
It's not the ICV, theres a wax stat in the TB, hence why there is water pipes going to it. -
5efhe cams.4efte engine....4e or 5e settin??
AdamB replied to PaulStarletSR's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Yeah there's a wax stat on the TB which allows air to bypass to the ICV I believe. Edit. More info here http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?102783-Wax-Stat-help&highlight=stat http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?102228-When-you-think-your-getting-somewhere!!!&highlight=stat -

Let us know pal. What TB are you using as well? FTE one? Have you tried checking the wax stat is operating correctly? -
5efhe cams.4efte engine....4e or 5e settin??
AdamB replied to PaulStarletSR's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
It will most likely run slightly lumpy, possibly the rev's will alternate ever so slightly. -

Cracked head and manifold bolt question
AdamB replied to andy91145's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
You can get it alloy welded if you know a welder competent enough to take the job on. -
5efhe cams.4efte engine....4e or 5e settin??
AdamB replied to PaulStarletSR's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Should be set to 5E mate, that's the way I figure it anyway. The cam specs are different, therefore should be set to the 5E mark. Saying that when changing cams they should be dialed in with a DTI if you want it accurately done. -
oil light flickers when idle need help asap
AdamB replied to lukeglanzav's topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
Whats it idle at when warm? When was the oil last changed? What grade was used? It could well be the bottom end bearings being out of tolerence causing a loss in oil pressure, however that is the most extreme case, so obviously easier to deal with other cheaper alternatives first. -
