I'll take a pic of mine in a few mate ;)
Although most of my loom I made with random coloured wires but I expect I kept a length of those off the plug..
take the rocker cover off and smell in there. there should be obvious damage like chipped cams but the smell will give it away.
Also check oil level.
If it wasnt the engine that caused the wiring to melt which would have caused the overfueling/flame and bang then you have an electricl fault. Maybe someone replaced a fuse with a higher rated one?
Im clutching a straws but if you take the rocker off and you cant stand the smell the head is fried.
Ta few years ago this happened to me and the smell was so bad when i opened the fuel cap i nearly threw up..
The reason it happened was i had swapped an fe sump onto an fte engine for reasons i cant be bothered explaining and did not know there was a difference in pickups. didnt have enough oil pressure to reach the head.
If your struggling to find in the uk I can probably get you one in Ireland cheap. Would probably only have valves, springs and caps for the cams. Le me know and I'll get a price for one.
I don't like taking shit though mate. Can a mod close this thread now as I'm already sick enough looking at the faulty AEM knowing I can't afford postage to actually get the bulk of my money back until next Thursday.
That's your fault for ordering wrong size! As above, if they where damaged you would get all paid. I'll say this now. If anyone bought off me and item was genuinely faulty when it arrived I would happily pay for return postage. I suppose it just comes down to not being selfish and knowing I made a mistake selling faulty goods.
Ya well some people decided not to follow through on looking after people buying from them.. It's not like buying something in person when you have a chance to have a good look at it.. You rely on the buyer to check and be honest. In my case it's just the first one but either one leads to an annoyance.. Reading messages and not replying is very stupid of him/her. Fortunately I didn't have a problem with communication. It always sucks but it's one of those things you gotta deal with..
Well if it's not the right one I'll sell you mine for 60+ postage.. Your going to have to get it welded onto your doe pipe as well as they don't match up. Just an FYI incase you didn't know ;)
If your ever around Preston area my cousin runs a fabrication business I'm sure you could get it welded there. I know it's far from you but just incase your ever I. The area
Thats what im having to do mate and its fine. My car will just be in the drive for the next 2 or 3 weeks days as i wont have money for postage until next week and then i have to sort out another FIC, probably a new one, with warranty from the US
I can tell this wont go anywhere but at least its here for others to see.
In the end he is getting a refund for the item himself. I just think that if he paid the postage for me to return he would still only be down less than 20 at the end of it. partly because he wont ask for the other guy to pay the return postage and because he took a chance by selling it to me, would have been nice and said oh god i need to rectify this im sorry and paid my postage. pfft
I am ending up worse off than him. fact
a company or retailer would probably have a warranty and would replace with a fully working item. I would have no problem paying postage in that case.
Its still not my fault at all. Whether he sold it on in faith or not his faith was towards the guy he bought it off. has nothing to do with me. He didnt check the item before he sold it so by saying its working perfect apart from a few scratches is falsely representing the item because he did not know the true condition of it.
Because he took a risk by selling it "in faith" im the one who takes the fall? If he had checked it he would have seen it was faulty and could have claimed his money back and we wouldnt be here now.
If he isnt interested asking the other guy to pay postage thats his issue.
