My car is the one thats been there for 16months and another guys glanza from kent has been there for over 2 years, another guy i spoke too who only just got his car back after a year said he had a hard time contacting him etc. The communication is poor and his hard to get hold of probably knowing we are so far from him puts us at the back of the que but after both bills coming close to 20k he should think where his priorities lie.

Matt yes it is cheaper to buy a forged starlet but sometimes you cant trust the people you buy off. I know all the work carried out and all parts put on etc i know exactly whats been done alot of the cost is from new parts not just the engine build although its still on the high side cost wise. when you start adding together fuel turbo set ups, clutches, exhaust systems it all adds up in the end. Like i said the cars been there 16 months its taken 12 months of that to do the ECU work......

Thanks for the help! :) still waiting for money to come back from Race tech and it might even get to where we have to go to court ffs! After speaking with TD, they advised we should go for one of their CT9 hybrid kits to save money and we aren't planning on forging really. TD reckon they spool much faster and the TD04 might only give us 10bhp more. It's a right minefield, if anyone knows where we can just buy a TD04 manifold and a turbo separately and if they think TD04 is much better any more help would be great! We can't enjoy the car as it is unfortunately as it genuinely feels slow as fook due to the cracked mani it's only running 0.4 bar! The car was cheap and needs lots of TLC so we've just done discs, paqds and callipers all round plus new apex springs alround. We have also just noticed that the J performance exhaust that was on it already is tie wrapped on the back and has dropped slightly! It appears to have a slightly different fitting on the back and we aren't sure how to secure it properly if anyone can help again lol?! Definitely seems that the arse that had it before us did everything on the cheap!! But I suppose half the fun it's getting it back to glory so to speak! :)

Any powerflow dealer/exhaust specialist or similar will be able to sort the exhaust for you. Probably fit some new hangers, or whatever, should be very straight forward for them.

Another option is a TF035 turbo, it's the TD04's little brother. Similar sized hot side to a CT9 but a larger cold side should see performance increases over the CT9.

My car ran a hybrid CT9 up until recently, and it was more than adequate.

Another option is to just fit a known working CT9 turbo and get the car nice. Take it back to standard, fix all the other little bits. Then when you're happy with it, look at increasing power some?

Food for thought

Ct9 hybrid prices are just crazy. Think Race Tech ask about 650 for the turbo alone.

Id suggest get a used good (wepr) manifold / downpipe for td/vf turbo fitment.

A hose company can make custom oil lines for 50 quid.

External gate would be preferred so you can have screamer action, proper EWGs are dear but can run ebay ones at 0.6 bar no problem. (Yet)

Then choose from about 20 different turbos to suit your needs with the td / vf / tf flange

Hey guys thank you so much for the responses! Everything is done on the car now to make it "more power ready" so to speak! Just needs a bit of a clean up wire wise under engine bay! :)

We where wondering if there was any chance we could speak with anyone that's dealt with race tech in the past, and how they dealt with Ricky. We have now received a very smug response via email this morning basically shunning us and stating we should've received our invoice in the post etc etc and that all calls between us have been recorded although this is illegal without the customer prior consent I believe. He has again refused any sort of refund stating the items are bespoke made for our car etc etc. Which I can understand but he's just not contacted us, gave us any paperwork, or supplied any goods three weeks down the line. Sorry to keep bothering everybody but the reviews and all your help so far have been really useful! We have already paid him £1,500 which is apparently for the TD04 kit plus a short routed FMIC and we'd be happy to accept that, just we don't have a clue when we will get it etc!! Very frustrating as we really want the car on the road and ready for a lovely blast out!

Happy Easter everyone, hope you're all smashing chocolate like no ones business!!!

Ben and Amelia

You should of had some sort of receipt for goods. If I was them I wouldn't give any time frame just incase something didn't go to plan. £1,500 sounds the going price. To me they don't seem to push products on here. Then again the forum is a dying light it's all facebook warriors now. All in all I would of went the wepr route lol I can't see why you will have any problems with their parts.

They stopped paying traders fees. Seemed to just drop off. Not that it was a bad thing.
