00joeindastarb0
So Toyota are producing this special edition Yaris GRMN https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/toyota-yaris-grmn-driven/36504It does have a very interesting specification, although it's pricey 27k and only 100 will be brought to the UKSupercharged 1.8 220bhp Manual box with LSD4 pots on the frontDecent shocks with remote reservoirs I want one although there will be little chance of getting hold of one probably. Its a shame they can't produce them in greater numbers with a more realistic price tag in the low twenties as I think it could be a worthy replacement if the driving position could be sorted. morgey
I had my hopes up for this, on paper its really promising... until they announced the price and quantity. They aimed it at the fiesta ST but due to the cost and limited availability they've completely missed the mark. Its nearly £10k over the ST and hardly anyone can get their hands on them, whats the point?
Bluebear
Well, it all looked very promising for Toyota, but with that limited production and the price, I can't help but feel they've lost the plot. I'd understand the limited numbers if there was already a hot (or even warm) hatch Yaris out there and this was a model to build upon the pedigree and be a more specialist/hardcore version (to which all the Masters of Nurburging fanfare would be justified), but there's nothing between this and the next rung down which is a bog standard Yaris. They've shot themselves in the foot. A lot of people were eager to see something to knock ST's off their peg, while remaining competitive with price, and Toyota do this. Bewildering. richglanzav
lol funny thing is a mountune 215 ST would show this a clean pair of heels and it kills me to say that. deary me toyota. as you guys say. lost the plot completely.
Ollieh17
There's clearly alot more to this than a fiesta. The fact people are going purely on hp figure is very surprising for this page
daniel_g
There never will be a worthy starlet successor.Look how long it took for them to come out with the GT86.. i'd rather have an AE86 any day. That last MRS fucker was a joke.GT4 died a death.Wont even mention the Supra! I don't think Toyota need a successor to the Starlet there is a lot of hot hatches on the market. Seeing as the Glanza and GT were only for the Japanese market? Europe has plenty of hot hatches to choose from
mart1
Bring the starlet back.
Fozzie
Regardless of the mechanicals, in my opinion the styling is utter crap - it looks high and narrow. Even if it was a feasible option to get hold of one, I'd still give it a miss.
Calum122
For the money there are a lot of other cars I'd rather have. At the end of the day, the GT was a cheap car. Approx 11k at the time, around 19k of todays money. For what you get, there is a lot of high end tech in there. Right the rest of the car is cheap cheap cheap.

The fact people are going purely on hp figure is very surprising for this page like what lol. your paying 12k extra for a decent diff and fancy suspension. im not referring to bhp dude infact a mountune fiesta has 5hp less technically but i bet it would still easily keep up. Cammy R
I'd like to think it's Toyota testing the demand by just making a limited quantity to start with as they haven't made a hot hatch in a while or they are just flexing proving that they still can
