ste91 Posted January 21, 2009 Share Posted January 21, 2009 I have been speaking with Starbus and we can possibly get a group buy for some 4EFE exhaust manifolds.They will be made from stainless steel and priced somewhere above £200.I know there are other N/A drivers who would like a decent exhaust manifold without having to go for one that was designed for the 5EFE, so who would be interested in this?It's not a definate yet, just gauging interest.So who's interested?1. ste912.3.4.5. I would of sent him part of the front section of exhaust so there would be enough room to make a nice 4-2-1 mani. then other owners would just cut part of their front bit of exhaust off. weld a flange on that matches up to the mani, and then off you go.I would of had one but im doing something different now. I'm thinking as its for a 4E the aim won't be for low-mid power.Possible Specs:4-1 - long primaries tapered collector4-2-1 - Long primaries shorter but slightly wider secondaries with tapered collectorOr as its for N/A I'd look at what tuners for Vtec engines have done.Any thoughts? ste91 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Share Posted January 21, 2009 @ Rob - I agree, there isn't much space to work with if you just stick to standard mani size.@ Rich - a 4-2-1 with long primaries and slightly wider secondaries is what I thought would work well, giving us a decent even powerband unlike the manifolds that are available for the 5E which would give us not-so-good low end power. ste91 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Share Posted January 21, 2009 No I think Rob is right, it's hard to work to the confines of the standard mani and standard exhaust, and anyway some people have gone for custom exhaust systems anyway so there's no harm in doing a chop-and-weld to fit a manifold.It would be very easy for us to have a manifold that you can simply swap with the standard one but then you are very limited. IMO the manifold should finish somewhere underneath but in an easy location for welding/fixing the exhaust to it. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Or is that mainly for the 4EFTE's?Mild steel is only needed on 4EFTE's due to the heat created by the turbo. Even stainless steel can be used on the 4EFTE but as we all know it cracks easily.
