TBDevelopments
lets just say its more than i've seen anyone else pay when researching them. They seem to be fetching a premiem in japan. gutted i missed out on a jam racing intercooler as well by £3 went for £203TimTB Developments
micky boy
Thanks for the info Tim and what a shiter missing out on the jam intercooler by £3 lol do you go over japan for your bits Tim, or is there a site you go on for all theys good parts? lol
TBDevelopments
ah i'll find another one or something better.erm i've just got contacts all over the world setup for doing my mr2/celica tuning business, so its not hard to get parts for starlets if your willing to pay the money. Only problem is that hard to get stuff here is just as rare in japan, your more likely to get the bits there but when they do come up he locals want the bits just as bad.you can get bargins from time to time, i just get a greddy 60mm brand new air/fuel ratio gauge for a friend for £12 TimTB Developments
Glanza_cl
nice one Tim buddy, i'm glad someone has found the potential for the starlet using mr2 parts... it's a huge market and most people don't have any idea that the 4efte is basically a small sw20 lol... when i had my glanza i touched on the concept of using mr2 parts as my mate is an mr2 specialist so he just happened to have parts that would fit super nice part list your gathering and this is going to be one tricked and reliable V!... 200bhp while remaining safe will be easy with your set up. TBDevelopments
fingers crossedwhich sw20 bits were you thinking about buddy? Most of what i've used are universal parts that i just had fitted to my old Tom's mr2, but thats being broken at the moment so just finding them a new homeTimTB Developments
micky boy
Thats good to know my dad has a mr2 turbo rev3 so you might come in handy sometime next year good luck with your project and looking forward to future updates
TBDevelopments
anything i can do mate just ask. Moving into starlets as well now, had a few through the door, just need to start building up word of mouth as i can't get a trader status on hereTimTB Developments
micky boy
Thanks Tim i have quite a few mates with starlet/glanzas in my area so i shall pass the word on matey
Glanza_cl
fingers crossedwhich sw20 bits were you thinking about buddy? Most of what i've used are universal parts that i just had fitted to my old Tom's mr2, but thats being broken at the moment so just finding them a new homeTimTB Developmentssmall things realy which came in handy... map sensor are compatable, fuel pumps... i ran 170bhp on the mr2 pump perfectly, obviously bolt ons like rrfpr, ebc, all specific to the mr2 go nicely on a V. turbo's etc. i had some other mr2 bits on my glanza but cant for the life of me remember what they were, all engine related though
TBDevelopments
ah yes of course. i'm tempted to fit the electronic steering pump from the mr2, this means i can remove the engine mounted pump on the glanza and have a nice straight into into the wheel arch where i can mount the filter.TimTB Developments
shaneyb
Loving this build. Well done mate. Can you tell me what sound deadening material you used and where you used it? I'm planning to do the same. Also did you get a new carpet in the end? I think you said something about getting one?
TBDevelopments
its just a dynomat equivilent just much cheaper. i only put a double layer underneith the sub box itself, but i do intend to put a few more bits in selective places, over the fuel pump when the walbro gets fitted, maybe a thin layer on the 1/4 panels to stiffen them up and the wheel arches to cut down on some road noise. Don't want to add to much at it'll start adding weight.I just bought some fancy mats for now but knowing what i'm like i will get a new carpet as well eventually as i know that holes still there.TimTB Developments
shaneyb
Where did you get it if you don't mind me asking? I want to sound deaden a few bits in mine as the road noise does get annoying on the motorway
TBDevelopments
just a plan on ebay, i did my whole mr2 interior, bought about 300sq/ft for about £120 thats compared to dynomat whch is about £25 per sq/ftThis is also carries the same industy standard, so your just not paying for the name.TimTB Developments
shaneyb
Nice one cheers. Good luck with the Starbo. Its the only white one that I'm keen on :-).

y3Lo
i've seen you around a couple of times now, in kiddy and stourport, glanza looks REALY nice, build looks like it's going well too .sold my GT end of last year and now have a silver ek9, might have noticed me too? Ricky@Race-Tech
i also took a few parts i had on the shielf for the mr2 project and retrofitted them into this one.First was the racelogic traction control i look off my old mr2 (now being broken for parts), this was a great bit of kit on the mr2 and i'm hoping it will cure all power understeer with the 200bhp, but not only that i stripped the board and found it very easy to add the flat shift and launch control feature for free, so i'm going to do that. i think the little glanza with launch control will be interestingThe other was my Water/Methanol Injection Kit, i used this on my mr2 to great effect, with a 90% methanol mix spraying from 10psi onwards i was able to add another 3 degree of ignition advance when mapping which resulted in 25bhp, this was on a 2.0ltr engine at 1.2bar of boost pressure. i don't exspect to see the same increase but an increase neather the less. I also find running the methanol is a great safety margin as its more stable and consistant than normal fuelAnd my fueling Upgrades started with a walbro 255ltr/hr fuel pump, i've been told its a little overkil for my goal but i'm a walbro dealer so seemed rude not to replace the 10year old fuel pump with a nice new itemand finally the SX fuel Pressure Regulator, these are an on the shielf item and are alcohol approved if i ever want to run racefuel, or methanol enriched fuel without the seals inside failing I also plan to dead head the fuel rail, for people who don't know what this means, its running the fuel through the fuel pressure regulator before the rail and bleeding off pressure that way, over going through the rail/injectors then to the regulator and back to the tank. Its just much cleaner install and usually keeps fuel in the rail colder and at a higher octain compared to a constant circulating systemTimTB DevelopmentsNone of the above is needed on a 200hp car IMO, you'd have been better of spending the money on a decent diff. TBDevelopments
sorry not been getting topic replies again so missed these last replies.Y3lo, i might have done, you got any pictures of your car? you'll have to pop down the workshop as were only in stourport Ricky, I've just been playing around with some surplus parts i had from the mr2, 200bhp isn't really my goal now so it'll make what it makes really. Although i do have another engine which i'll probably end up forging.Anyway been very busy in the workshop so haven't had chance to update this recently but i've been collecting parts like mad. Despite not wanting to go to coilovers the rear shocks started leaking and the springs sagged causing horrible knocking so i ended up getting coilovers anyway. Now there fitted i'm glad i did. There MeisterR and i've been very impressed with so thanks to jerrick for that , managed to get a nice trade agreement as well and now a dealer of his products through the workshop. There on the softest setting at the moment to bed them in and there actually softer than the KYB's i removed. Much better on the road and a nicer ride all round. Also today i managed to fit my Turbo kit, This comprised of a Jam Racing Manifold, Blitz Cast Downpipe, and Blitz K1 Turbo, i had all the cast items ceramic coated as well which has helped with underbonnet temperatures. The blitz actuator had seen better days so i made my own from a 0.7bar garrett actuator. I'm only running 0.8bar at the moment on stock ecu and intercooler, performance has increased a little, but nothing amazing. Hopfully it'll be better once i get the power fc mapped and 1bar of boost pressure. Exhaust Volume has definitly stepped up a notch and the exhaust note has changed from a muffled growl to full raw on full throttleI've also noticed it took a while to get upto temperature, once its there its rock solid and doesn't overheat which i suspected would be the thermostate, seals broken or ripped. replaced that today and found the seal dislocated so now i've replaced it with the new one its much faster to get upto temp. TBDevelopments
thanks guys, using this as a showcar for my tuning company so trying to show off what i can do, so only using the best and rarest parts, so hopefully grab some attention at the shows etc. Got some subtle side graphics for it to show the business name soon, they'll go where the "glanza" graphics normally go.Been very slow at the moment on the starlet front so if you ever know of anyone wanting work done in the midlands area (worcester) pass my details there way please Got a nice chargecooler build going on shortly. I was going to go front mount IC etc, but i had a nice box chargecooler for an mr2, but the company that makes it advertise 700bhp capable, but on closer inspection the one i have is one of the first versions which actually bottlenecked around 350bhp so making it pointless for my mr2 project. But perfect for the glanza just need to mount it, thinking of building a craddle over the gearbox and mounting it there, run the pipe over the top of the manifold straight into the chargecooler, then its about 3" from the outlet to the Throttlebody, It'll still keep the pipe work very short. and i've not seen chargecoolers done that often in the glanza world so thought i'd be different.TimTB Developments
Glanza_cl
Super nice work as always Tim! a charge cooler would be awesome would work well on the little 1.3 as they create a mighty amount of heat! dont see them much as fmic are 2 a penny nowadays so is the obvious choice to most people.haven't seen a charge cooler set up on a glanza for a long time so will keep an eye as i'm super interested in how it turns out keep the wicked updates coming
