newbie with 1997 glanza v

Recommended Posts

hiya, well i have had my glanza for about 3 weeks so far. since buying it I've spent a little trying to make sure everything is going to be fine engine wise. as the car came with no history and a mileage of 45,000 miles. naughty i no but with the look over by a mechanic and the bloke offered to put it on a ramp so we could have a look under neith and was tidy all the way through, so thought to buy it. well trade in my old car for it which was above the value of this one. so to build up the value, i asked for 2nd hand tein coilovers, some white jdm alloys, boost gauge, apexi induction kit, hks exhaust system and some buckets. this was to be all fitted for me aswell. well here's the pics from when i 1st looked at it and now.

Welcome to UKSC!

Your Glanza minted mate, it looks like a very clean example.

Looks miles better than stock with them rims and Tein Coilys!

And those Recaros... WOW! They're beautiful mate, let me know if your selling your old seats and i might buy them!

I'm looking forward to the future mods, good luck with it all!

cheers mate. future mods will be engine first, wanting around 200bhp then il be happy. then for it to get a nice respray, front splitter, lower profile tyres in between. and of course trying not to crash it.

cheers for the comments! and big welcome! the person i got the car from as well as importing he's a breakers and insurance specialist. http://www.japanmotors.biz/ thats where i bought my car from and has a few glanza's and plenty of parts etc. my car i traded is the yellow punto. i think i got a good deal :) yes they are evo 7 seats. I've loved them ever since i saw them even when i had a corsa c. thought i would wait for the right car to get some. the only trouble is im going to be a little money saving / fatel if in a accident. and get them welded in rather than spending fortunes on reacro/bride etc frames. just one risk im going to take.

if theres and links or pics of the other ep91 with the recaro's in, i would love to see.

Hi Damian

A very warm welcome to UK Starlet Club

You've come to the right place for all things Starlet related.

You'll also be sure to make some new friends here bro.

Congrats on being a new owner of V Power ;)

Just want to say that you have done a very nice job adding the Teins and Rims to your Glanza, she looks spot on now and I bet she handles well too.

Also well done on getting the Evo 7 Recaros. I have the exact same seats altho mine are allegedly out of an Evo 8 :)

Mine have the Evo frames modified to fit the EP91, they could do with a good re-weld but they are holding fine at the minute and sturdy.

Here is when I first got the seats in, they made an excellent difference to my cars styling as well as driving benefits.

They are so worth getting although I have seen a few other people owning them too, but in this day and age who cares long as you like em and they do their job!

Yep  Just make sure whoever is going to do the job to be as accurate as possible with the position of the brackets and make the welds as strong as they can, also if you are using other metal plates as brackets, make sure to use thicker metal, too thin and they will be weaker and more prone to the weld breaking. I didnt do the weld job myself but I have seen what mine looks like. You need to grind off the old brackets and reposition/weld them to suit the ep91 seat bolt positions. You dont have to grind of all of the brackets tho, only the ones that dont fit. if in doubt, get talking to a welder for his/her opinion.

As for the rear bench, I have it too :) Have no time to get it sorted so it'll have to wait. Would be cool to see yours done tho.

All the best!

I've known him for a while, he fitted some exhausts and sorted some tricky wheels out for me in the past. I've recomened him to alot of me mates aswell. so i think he now owes me haha! yeh will get some pics up if sorted. rear bench maybe at a later date.

well the bloke came round at 9.30 and left at 11. with the recaro's in. he said the old seats welds were crap and could snap off the rails instead of unwelding them. but he asured me its the best he can do and 100times better than what was done before.
