Help Making A Choice

Recommended Posts

Today is a sad day for me and my starlet :( on my way home from town on a corner I have drove thousands of times over the last 6 years, I lost control of the car and it hit a grass verge and a concrete wall. I am ok just some stiffness but the car isn't. I managed to drive it a few miles to a friends farm but from what I can see so far it has pushed the bottom front crossmember a and the passenger side inner wing in along with some cosmetic damage. I have seen cars like this fixed and my friend has a porta power for pulling these out but it will need a new bumper panel, bumper, fogs, turbo to intercooler pipe, drivers side headlight, grille, bonnet, wing.......etc. So the options I have and car spec are below and I don't know which one would be best and need help deciding. Also if I put my engine in a new shell will it need mapped again or not?

Option 1 - Fix the car put new panels on it and save up for a respray.

Option 2 - Buy a rolling shell or even just a shell and transfer all my parts onto it.

Option 3 - Break the car and buy something else

Aww man thats no too good, defo buy a new shell and swap it all over. Crashed damaged repaired cars are a bit pikey imo, and never really drive straight again. You shouldn't need it mapped again but best to ask TD as theyve just mapped it ae ?

Inner wing is dented in but not bent and so is front crossmember but not twisted or anything and car still drives straight. Will post some pictures now and add more detailed ones when I get a chance. Both lower intercooler brackets are snapped so it looks twisted but it is not, also the bonnet is slightly open that's why it isn't lined up.

What Starbuck said aswell really.

But In my opinion that's not that bad, and definetly not worth re-shelling over.

You would be surprised how well damage repairable cars can be repaired! Might mate does it and uses them for plenty long enough!

It could just be the pic! But the passanger's side chassis leg looks bent!

Been up to the farm to check, it's just the picture both chassis legs are completely straight and have no damage at all. It's only the panels and the inner wing + front crash bars that have damage so should be repairable as the car still drives perfect and straight.
